Casting Corner: Ashley Judd, Jeremy Renner and More

Ashley Judd

Here’s a quick look at some of the casting announcements made recently:

Ashley Judd: The actress will return to the big screen in Flypaper, an indie project being helmed by The Forbidden Kingdom‘s Rob Minkoff. Judd replaces the originally-cast Liv Tyler in the bank heist film. The movie written by The Hangover‘s Jon Lucas and Scott Moore also includes Patrick Dempsey and Tim Blake Nelson.

Jeremy Renner: The Oscar nominee is reportedly closing in on a role in The Avengers. If Renner joins the film, he would star alongside Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury), Chris Evans (Captain America), Don Cheadle (War Machine) and Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow) as Hawkeye. Other superheroes could be added later.

James Franco: The Pineapple Express star is now slated to play scientist in Rise of the Apes, a modern-day prequel to Planet of the Apes. In the movie, Franco will test a possible cure for Alzheimers on an ape he later takes home to protect. Filming will begin this summer.

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley: The Victoria’s Secret model will spread her wings and fly onto the big screen in Transformers 3. Despite no acting experience, Rosie will take over where Megan Fox left off. (This may/may not be a difficult task.) Rosie was first introduced to Michael Bay when he directed a commercial for the lingerie company.

Adam Beach: The Law & Order: SVU actor has nabbed a part in Cowboys and Aliens, an adaptation being directed by Jon Favreau. The film about a spaceship crash that unites a group of Apache Indians and Western settlers will feature Beach as half-Apache Nat Colorado. Daniel Craig, Harrison Ford, Olivia Wilde, Sam Rockwell and Paul Dano co-star.
