Jason SudeikisMark Ruffalo

Here’s a quick look at some of the casting announcements made recently:

Jason Sudeikis: The Saturday Night Live star may be on board for Going the Distance, a romantic comedy starring (exes?) Drew Barrymore and Justin Long. Sudeikis is in talks to play Box, a friend who thinks Justin’s long-distance relationship with Drew is a mistake. (Don’t we all?) Nanette Burstein (American Teen) has been tapped to direct the New Line movie.

Mark Ruffalo: Sperm donation moves from the headlines and onto the big screen in The Kids Are All Right. In the film, Annette Bening and Julianne Moore play a same-sex couple with two children (Josh Hutcherson and Mia Wasikowska). Ruffalo stars as the sperm donor who eventually comes into their lives. Filming on the movie began last week.

Amy Adams: The Oscar nominee is stepping away from her Meryl Streep projects and heading toward two hunky men. Adams is close to joining The Fighter, a biopic about “Irish” Mickey Ward. Amy would play a bartender who becomes involved with the boxer (Mark Wahlberg) while Christian Bale has been cast as Dick Eklund, Mickey’s trainer and brother. Production begins this month.

Virginia Madsen: The Haunting in Connecticut actress has just been added to Father of Invention, an indie comedy. Kevin Spacey stars as inventor who spends eight years in prison after a product goes awry. When his stint ends, the former billionaire discovers that his ex-wife (Madsen) has spent his money and found a new husband.

Tim Meadows: What happens when SNL alums seek to relive their glory days? They band together for a group comedy. Meadows is the latest person signed on for Grown Ups, a film about old high school friends. Others already confirmed for the Happy Madison production include Adam Sandler, Maya Rudolph, Rob Schneider, David Spade, Chris Rock, Norm Macdonald, Tim Herlihy and Colin Quinn.

Katherine Heigl: The Grey’s Anatomy star will revisit death in Life as We Know It, a project for Warner Bros. She and her male lead (not yet cast) will be thrown together after their best friends die in a car accident. The two then find themselves responsible for the couple’s surviving daughter. Greg Berlanti will direct.
