Here’s a quick look at some of the casting announcements made recently:

Kat Dennings: The Nick and Norah actress is one of the latest additions to Thor, Kenneth Branagh’s feature about the mythological god of thunder. It’s believed Dennings will work alongside Natalie Portman as Jane Foster’s assistant. Meanwhile, Stuart Townsend (Fandral), Ray Stevenson (Volstagg the Valiant) and Tadanobu Asano (Hogun the Grim) have been tapped to fight with the title character (Chris Hemsworth). Filming will begin early next year.

Uma Thurman: The Oscar nominee will have the opportunity to act opposite Robert Pattinson in Bel Ami, a period drama set in Paris. Pattinson will be featured as George Duroy, a journalist who climbs his way up the social ladder through his romantic conquests. Thurman’s character assists Duroy in his journey and later weds him herself.

Harvey Keitel: The Pulp Fiction star has been recruited for Little Fockers, a sequel in the Meet the Parents series. Keitel will play a contractor hired by Greg Focker (Ben Stiller). It’s unclear whether that would involve “cleaning” anything up.

Julian McMahon: The Nip/Tuck actor is in talks to board Red, a DC Comics story. The adaptation centers around Bruce Willis’ character, a retired black ops agent targeted by younger assassins. If cast, McMahon would be central in a shadow conspiracy. Other co-stars include John C. Reilly, Helen Mirren, Morgan Freeman and Mary-Louise Parker.

Winona Ryder: The Star Trek actress may be joining the world of dance in Black Swan. The supernatural thriller features Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis as ballet rivals who may be involved in a manipulative relationship. It’s also possible Kunis doesn’t exist at all. Darren Aronofsky (Requiem for a Dream) will direct.

Mia Wasikowska: The Alice in Wonderland star may soon star in another literary adaptation. Wasikowska and Michael Fassbender (Inglourious Basterds) are in line to front Jane Eyre, the umpteenth retelling of the Charlotte Bronte classic. Director Cary Fukunaga (Sin Nombre) will handle the latest version.
