Casting Corner: Paul Giamatti, Frank Langella, and More

Paul Giamatti replaces Sean Penn as Larry

Here’s a quick look at some of the casting announcements made recently:

Paul Giamatti: The Farrelly Brothers’ Three Stooges film took a huge blow when they lost Sean Penn; however, Peter Farrelly has recently revealed that John Adams star Paul Giamatti will be taking his place to fill in Larry’s shoes. Jim Carrey and Benicio Del Toro also star as Curly and Moe.

Frank Langella: Following up to his Oscar-nominated role as Richard Nixon in Frost/Nixon, Frank Langella will be starring alongside Michael Douglas, Shia LaBeouf, and Josh Brolin in Oliver Stone’s Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps. Langella will play Lewis Zabel, mentor to LaBeouf’s young Wall Street broker. The film will be Oliver Stone’s first sequel.

Ice Cube: Barbershop star Ice Cube is set to star next to fellow rapper-turned-actor Bow Wow in Lottery Ticket, an Alcon Entertainment and Rogue Pictures production. The film centers around Bow Wow’s character, a young man living in the projects who dodges avaricious neighbors who discover his winning lottery ticket.

Tara Reid: Continuing her efforts in the comedic fair, the American Pie cutie will be (hopefully) making audiences laugh in Last Call, a film revolving around cousins who are forced to run the family pub. Travis Van Winkle, Ryan Hansen, and Tom Arnold also star; this will be Greg Garthe’s directorial debut.

Hilary Duff: Lizzie McGuire‘s star isn’t cutting ties with Disney just yet—the War, Inc. actress is set to star in ABC Family’s The Business of Falling in Love. Based on Daniella Brodsky’s Diary of a Working Girl Duff will play a fashion reporter who goes undercover in the business world, determined to find love. The 10 Things I Hate About You director Gil Junger will direct.
