Godzilla: You didn’t think Godzilla would go down without another fight, did ya? Legendary Pictures has announced that it plans to resurrect the giant creature in 2012 with help from Warner Bros. The film, which will not be a sequel to the 1998 version starring Matthew Broderick, will “pay respects” to the 1954 outing. A director has not yet been named.

Buck Rogers: The previously-announced reboot of Buck Rogers now has Resident Evil‘s Paul W.S. Anderson as its director. “Buck has already been such a huge influence on action-adventure franchises like Star Wars and Indiana Jones, so for me it is a thrilling opportunity to be allowed to return to the source, and relaunch such an epic character,” Paul said. The movie, co-written by Art Marcum and Matt Holloway, could take shape in 3D.

Fantastic Voyage: The Bourne Ultimatum‘s Paul Greengrass may soon climb aboard Fantastic Voyage, a project being produced by James Cameron. The movie, which will use the same technology Avatar had, follows a group of colleagues who miniaturize themselves and their submarine to save a dying scientist from the inside.

Fright Night: Anton Yelchin may shift from terminators to vampires in the retooled version of Fright Night. Yelchin (Star Trek, Terminator Salvation) is in talks to play Charley Brewster, the lead character who learns he has a vampire for a neighbor. Director Craig Gillespie (Lars and the Real Girl) will be working with an adapted screenyplay from Marti Noxon (Buffy the Vampire Slayer).

The Three Musketeers: The Bourne Identity‘s Doug Liman could be the man to helm Warner Bros.’ version of The Three Musketeers. (A different Musketeers film - which will be produced in 3D - is being developed by Buck Roger‘s Paul W.S. Anderson.) No actors have yet been chosen.

Popeye: Kids will start eating their spinach again when Popeye returns to the big screen. Producer Avi Arad (The Avengers) is in charge of developing a 3D, CGI-adaptation of the tale about the sailor man. Mike Jones is in talks to pen the script which will also feature Olive Oyl, Swee’Pea and Bluto.

Overboard: Maid in Manhattan‘s Jennifer Lopez may be taking care of a strange man and his children in Overboard, a redo of the 1987 Goldie Hawn/Kurt Russell film. The Columbia Pictures comedy about about an amnesiac-turned-faux wife is being co-produced by Will Smith.

Private Benjamin: Speaking of Goldie Hawn films, another funny blonde has just been cast in the remake of Private Benjamin. Anna Faris (The House Bunny) will play the spoiled title character who winds up enlisting in the Army. A script has not yet been written.

He-Man and the Masters of the Universe: The writing duo behind the upcoming Predators has been tapped to pen Masters of the Universe for Columbia. Mike Finch and Alex Litvak will start over where Warner Bros. and Mattel left off.

The Addams Family: Maleficent isn’t the only project Tim Burton’s name has been linked to. The Alice in Wonderland director is now reportedly considering an update of The Addams Family. Burton’s stop-motion animated version would be based on the original source material: Charles Addams’ illustrations of the family.
