300

300: It appears progress has finally been made on a possible 300 follow-up. Frank Miller has already completed a draft of the next graphic novel which may or may not be adapted.  At this time, no director or screenwriter have even been attached to the project. It’s also not known whether the storyline would serve as a prequel or a sequel. (Since death played heavily in the first.) The 2007 feature earned $107 million domestically.

Scream: Horror sweethearts David Arquette and Courteney Cox Arquette will be reliving their glory days for another round. The vets have just agreed to reprise their characters - Deputy Dewey Riley and Gale Weathers - for a fourth installment. While there won’t be a return from Neve Campbell, there will be a return from writer Kevin Williamson. Wes Craven is also expected to direct.

Heathers: She may have been the star of the 1988 classic, but that doesn’t mean Winona Ryder is the authority on Heathers-related news. Although she swore there was a sequel in the works, neither the director or the writer know anything about it. “Winona’s been talking about this for years — she brings it up every once in a while and Dan Waters and I will joke about it, but as far as I know there’s no script and no plans to do the sequel,” MIchael Lehmann told Movieline. “A couple weeks ago everyone started talking about it and I guess Winona said the movie was gonna get made, and I thought, ‘I don’t know, maybe they did this without me?’ But I got in touch with Dan Waters and he said he didn’t know anything about it. So I don’t think there’s any truth to it.” Hmmph.

Transformers: Even before the box office receipts for Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen were turned in, Michael Bay reportedly claimed that he would not participate in any threequel. Aside from being tired of harsh critical reviews, the director simply said that he needed a change of pace. “After the three and a half years I’ve spent making these movies, I feel like I’ve had enough of the Transformers world. I need to do something totally divergent, something without any explosions.” Because he knows how to do things that don’t involve explosions?
