The Strangers: There will never be a shortage of beautiful couples for masked strangers to target. A year after Liv Tyler and Scott Speedman were terrorized comes word of a sequel for The Strangers. Production on the film, which will be directed by Laurent Briet, will begin this fall. No details on the storyline have been disclosed.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Gore Verbinski’s departure has left the door open for another director to milk the cash cow. Disney is now in talks with Rob Marshall (Chicago) to direct the fourth installment in the Pirates of the Caribbean series. Producer Jerry Bruckheimer is eager to start production with Johnny Depp as early as next year. In the meantime, Marshall’s Nine is set to debut on November 25.

Wanted: This year’s Comic-Con gave attendees a number of teasers to salivate over. During a panel for 9, Timur Bekmambetov said that they are “working hard to be ready to shoot in a few months” on a Wanted sequel. “James McAvoy will be in the movie, and he will try to wake up our Fox,” he added. POSSIBLE SPOILER AHEAD. Uh - didn’t Angelina Jolie die in the original? “She’s in a bath with wax,” the director hinted.

The Hobbit: Although the two-film adaptation has not officially been green-lit, Peter Jackson recently said that a first draft of The Hobbit is just weeks away. Casting for the prequels, though, is still months away. Both projects will be directed by Guillermo del Toro.

Saw VII: Receipts haven’t even come in from this fall’s release of Saw VI, but that hasn’t kept Lionsgate from forging ahead. Filming on Saw VII is already scheduled to begin this January. David Hackl has been given the task of directing the next feature. He also helmed the fifth outing as well.

Alien: Thirty years after Alien debuted, director Ridley Scott has finally reattached himself to the sci-fi series. The film, which would be the 5th in the franchise, will actually serve as a prequel to the 1979 original. Jon Spaihts will pen the screenplay. No start date has been announced.
