Sequel News: Hancock, Vampire Chronicles and More

Hancock: Will Smith’s reluctant superhero will be dragged into the spotlight once again. Adam Fierro and Glen Mazzara (both writers on The Shield) have just been recruited to pen the Hancock sequel for returning director Peter Berg. It’s not known if Charlize Theron or Jason Bateman will also appear in the next feature.

Halloween: It seems like October 31 is coming earlier and earlier every year. This year, the holiday arrived on August 28. Next year, it will debut in the summer. According to studio co-chairman Bob Weinstein, Halloween 3D is already in development for a mid-2010 release. Although Rob Zombie helped reboot the franchise, a new director will assigned to the upcoming installment.

The Bourne Identity: The upcoming script for the next Bourne movie will get additional help from a new writer. Josh Zetumer (Dune) was tapped when George Nolfi - the original scribe and Bourne Ultimatum screenwriter - had to shift focus to an entirely different Matt Damon project. (Zetumer’s “parallel script” for Universal may eventually be incorporated into George’s work.) The fourth installment has a projected 2011 release date.

District 9: Although no follow-up has been officially been greenlighted, there is already one person excited to get on board a sequel: Neill Blomkamp. “I would do anything to go back to the world of District 9 again. Or District 10,” the director recently told Entertainment Weekly. Well - based on the recent box office figures, I have a feeling he won’t have to do much to get back there.

The Vampire Chronicles: Will Robert Downey Jr. go from being Iron Man to a lover of iron? Rumor has it the Oscar-nominee may be in line to star as Lestat de Lioncourt, the famous character from Anne Rice’s novels. The role of Lestat was first tackled by Tom Cruise in Interview with the Vampire and then by Stuart Townsend in Queen of the Damned. The Vampire Lestat, the second book in the series, is considered to be a prequel.

Right i like Robert Downy Jr but he is not Lestat material they made that mistake with Cruise who i dont find is an actor at all. Stuart Townsend got it off to a tee and will in my eyes alway be Lestat even Anne Rice prefered him too. Shame he has not been approached to play the part once more. Robert is to old for the part where as Stuart is wearing very well and looks younger than his years. So sorry to everyone but this is my opinion.
