Sequel News: Twister, G.I. Joe and More

Twister: Actor Bill Paxton recently expressed interest in doing another Twister film. Question is: is anyone else interested? (Aside from the Balloon Boy family?) Bill believes 3-D technology and a history angle could bring added elements to the disaster story. “I think you’d still want to have a lot of the dark humor and all of that, with the flying cows and everything. I think you could kind of intrigue people more by getting into a little more of the lore and really understanding. I just think there’s a lot more to explore there,” Paxton said.

G.I. Joe: As expected, a second G.I. Joe film has been greenlighted by Paramount. Zombieland‘s Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick - who have also been tapped to write Deadpool - are currently in discussions about penning this sequel.

James Bond: Oscar winner Sam Mendes may become the next man to helm a 007 production. The director (Revolutionary Road, Jarhead, American Beauty) is in talks to board the action film. Although a start date has not yet been announced, the film will most likely get a 2011 release. Frost/Nixon‘s Peter Morgan is assisting Neal Purvis and Robert Wade on the screenplay.

Star Trek: A release date for the Star Trek follow-up has just been announced. The next chapter will premiere on June 29, 2012, just before the Fourth of July holiday. Roberto Orci, Alex Kurtzman and Damon Lindelof will collaborate on the script.

X-Men: Bryan Singer wasn’t just teasing us when he said he might return to this franchise. The director is now confirmed for X-Men: First Class, the installment that will focus on the “formative years of Xavier and Magneto, and the formation of the school and where there relationship took a wrong turn.” Jamie Moss (Street Kings) will pen the script that will introduce “a lot of new mutants and a great villain.”

Sex and the City 2: So now that Carrie and Big are married, will a certain someone reenter the picture? Although John Corbett was spotted near the Moroccan set of Sex and the City 2, Sarah Jessica Parker would not confirm his involvement. “It might have just been coincidental that he was traveling,” she told MTV. The star did, though, acknowledge another character’s absence. “I can confirm that there is no Jennifer Hudson,” Parker stated.
