Ridley Scott to direct The Counselor
The filmmaker has officially signed up for the movie which focuses on a respected lawyer who struggles to cope when he begins to dabble in the drug business and Ridley has reportedly approached his 'Prometheus' star Michael Fassbender for the lead role.
Filming is set to begin on May 1 and although Ridley favours 'Shame' star Michael, a number of high profile actors are said to have expressed their interest in the lead role.
The contemporary movie is the first film script from 'No Country For Old Men' writer Cormac McCarthy with producer Nick Wechsler telling Deadline.com: ''The spec falls smack in the middle of what everyone responds to with Cormac's novels.''
Co-producer Steve Schwartz added: ''Since McCarthy himself wrote the script, we get his own muscular prose directly, with its sexual obsessions. It's a masculine world into which, unusually, two women intrude to play leading roles. McCarthy's wit and humor in the dialogue make the nightmare even scarier. This may be one of McCarthy's most disturbing and powerful works.''
Pulitzer-prize winning author Cormac's works 'No Country For Old Men', 'The Road' and 'All The Pretty Horses' have all previously been adapted for the big screen.
