is officially a god to comic book fans everywhere. Snyder has released, via the film’s production blog, the first photos of the cast in costume, and they look absolutely amazing. Alan Moore (V For Vendetta, From Hell) and Dave Gibbons have good reason to be proud. Too bad we’re going to have to wait exactly an entire year for the film’s release!

Watchmen takes place in a very different 1985, where the American government has outlawed superheroes. When one of their own is murdered, a group of retired superheroes set out to avenge his death, only to stumble upon an age-old conspiracy involving the elimination of their kind. Snyder’s film stars Jeffrey Dean Morgan (Supernatural), Malin Akerman (The Heartbreak Kid), (Phantom of the Opera), Billy Crudup (Big Fish), and Jackie Earle Haley (Semi-Pro).
