Sequel News: Spider-Man 4, Center of the Earth and More

Journey to the Center of the Earth

Journey to the Center of the Earth: Last year’s 3-D hit has spawned a second installment from New Line. The original film, which was based on a Jules Verne novel, earned over $100 million domestically ($140 internationally) after its release last July. Both Brendan Fraser (Prof. Trevor Anderson) and Josh Hutcherson (Sean Anderson) are expected to reprise their roles in the sequel.

Terminator Salvation: According to Chud.com, Christian Bale’s intense performance won’t be the only highlight of the sci fi sequel. The original Sarah Connor will be making a contribution as well. Although Linda Hamilton won’t appear in the film, she will reportedly be heard in a short voice over similar to the one she did for T2.

Spider-Man 4: Even though it’s hard to imagine the next few months, it’s never too early to start thinking about 2011. Sony has already designated May 6th of that year for the premiere of Spider-Man 4. The film - which Tobey Maguire and Sam Raimi will both reportedly be back for - will then be followed by two other Marvel productions. Thor is scheduled for a June 17 release while The First Avenger: Captain America comes out July 22, 2011.

Eclipse: Twilight fanatics can now breathe a sigh of relief. Although Drew Barrymore was once considered as a director for the third book, the 34-year-old was eventually passed over for Juan Antonio Bayona. The Spanish director is best known to American audiences for his haunting work on 2008’s The Orphanage.
