Harvey Weinstein Slightly Justifies A Single Man Marketing
Posted by Robin Paulson Categories: Weinstein Company, Adaptation, Drama, Period, Romance, Celeb News, Celebrity Gossip, Celebrity Controversy, Distribution, Rumors, Upcoming Releases

When the original movie poster (above) for Tom Ford’s directorial debut, A Single Man, appeared online, fans questioned whether or not distributors The Weinstein Company was downplaying the major gay theme of the film.
In the film, Colin Firth plays a closeted professor who mourns over his lover’s (Matthew Goode) death. Judging by the poster of Firth in bed with Julianne Moore (whose screen time is rumored to be fairly short), I think it’s safe to say that there was little intention to illustrate said storyline.
Upon the recent release of the film’s second poster (seen after the jump), Harvey Weinstein was questioned about the marketing that seems to say something other than the real message at hand.

Jamie Foxx Slams Roman Polanski
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Action, Drama, Celeb News, Celebrity Gossip, Celebrity Controversy, Upcoming Releases
Jamie Foxx says Roman Polanski would “be missing” if he had touched his daughter.
The Law Abiding Citizen actor has spoke out against the film director—who is currently facing extradition to the US after he fled the country in 1978 when he was convicted of having sex with a 13-year-old girl—insisting that he wouldn’t hesitate to take the law into his own hands if his child was in danger.
“If it had been my daughter who was barely a teenager—my daughter is 15—Roman Polanski would be missing… period. It wouldn’t even get to the court case. But, that’s me and I wouldn’t want anyone else to follow that because you should let the justice system work it out. On the other hand, I don’t know Roman Polanski, but maybe if I had a relationship with him my answer would be different. I just think this whole issue is bigger than Roman Polanski.”
Jamie, 41, admits he has no idea how far he would go to seek retribution if someone hurt his loved ones: “Revenge is a tough thing. When it comes to someone bringing harm to your family, it’s hard to think about turning the other cheek. Some of things I’ve said I’d do to sexual perpetrators were pretty graphic. But I also read some stories of people taking the law into their own hands, which is bad too. So it’s tough to know how far you’d go.”

Michael Caine Denies Johnny Depp Rumors

Poor Michael Caine—ever since he seemed to confirm the Johnny Depp-Riddler rumors, the poor guy has been out of the loop with everything these days!
In an interview with MTV (nearly a year ago with the same interviewer with which the deed was done), Caine realizes that he can’t trust the newspaper these days:
“We talked about Johnny Depp and all that, which is in the paper! We trusted the newspapers, and I got into so much trouble. They said, ‘Johnny Depp’s not in it. Philip Seymour Hoffman’s not in it. There’s no script, there’s nothing.’ They said, ‘Why did you say that?’ I said, ‘Because the reporter I was talking to had the newspaper, and it said it in the newspaper, and I thought you’d announced that.’ So they said, ‘Shut up.’”

Johnny Depp Out of Pirates?
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Disney, Action, Adventure, Family, Period, Sequels, Comedy, Casting, Celeb News, Celebrity Gossip, Celebrity Controversy, Rumors, Upcoming Releases
To a whole lot of women’s dismay, Johnny Depp may not appear in the next Pirates of the Caribbean film.
The veteran actor said that following the departure of Disney chief executive Dick Cook last Friday, he will have to wait to see the script for Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides before he will commit to the movie.
Referring to the film he said, “There’s a fissure, a crack in my enthusiasm at the moment.”
Johnny, who has played the lead role of Captain Jack Sparrow in the previous three installments of the pirate adventure trilogy, said that he was “shocked and very sad” about the news when Dick phoned to tell him he was leaving.
“He is the utmost gentleman, so he made the call himself. He didn’t give me a reason. I didn’t see this coming. There was no reason to see this coming. He’s instantly trustworthy. And you generally don’t meet people at the studios you trust. He’s a rare beast.”
Johnny also said Dick was the person who convinced him to sign on for Pirates of the Caribbean in the first place.

Transformers Crew Fires Back at Classless Megan Fox
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Celeb News, Celebrity Gossip, Celebrity Controversy, Rumors

UPDATE: Transformers production assistant defends Megan Fox in a new letter.
Megan Fox might not think highly of Michael Bay, but there are several who don’t exactly care for her either.
Earlier this month, the Transformers actress stirred up controversy when comments she made about Bay spread across the internet. In an interview with Wonderland magazine, Fox compared the director to Napoleon and said the “awkward” hit maker was “a nightmare to work for.”
Now other (anonymous) crew members are speaking out about the “unbearable” hours spent watching “Ms. Sourpants” trying to act on set. You can read a scathing letter (which was once posted on Michael’s own website) in full after the jump. A personal note from Bay will also follow.

Paris Hilton Escapes Pay-Out
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Comedy, Celeb News, Celebrity Controversy
Paris Hilton was not at fault for her film-flopping, a court has ruled.
The socialite was sued by Worldwide Entertainment Group for allegedly breaching her contractual commitments for movie National Lampoon’s Pledge This!, but a Miami judge has ruled she did her best to promote it, stating the movie was “hardly destined for critical acclaim.”
District Judge Federico Moreno said:
“Any causal connection between Ms. Hilton’s alleged breaches and the financial ruin of the film are wholly speculative. The movie flopped because the film’s inexperienced producers hastily cobbled together a wholly inadequate marketing plan. They sent scattershot requests to their principal star in the hope she could find time to promote a sinking ship.”
While Paris won’t have to pay the $8.3 million damages the producers were asking for, she may have to return the $1 million fee she was given for the film. A receiver representing the producers has been given until August 26 to submit arguments as to why the blonde star should pay back the sum.
Michael Weinsten, Paris’ lawyer, said in a statement following the ruling: “We are grateful for the judge’s time and thoughtful consideration of the issues in this case.”

Iron Man 2: Emily Blunt In, Samuel L. Jackson Out?
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Paramount, Action, Adaptation, Adventure, Sequels, Casting, Celeb News, Celebrity Controversy, Upcoming Releases

Ever since news leaked about Mickey Rourke’s possible Iron Man 2 appearance, the casting scoop has been coming fast and furious.
Despite Samuel L. Jackson’s brief appearance as Nick Fury at the end of Iron Man, the Spirit actor recently told the LA Times that he might not be participating in the next feature - or the already announced Avengers franchise - after all.
“There was a huge kind of negotiation that broke down. I don’t know. Maybe I won’t be Nick Fury. Maybe somebody else will be Nick Fury or maybe Nick Fury won’t be in it. There seems to be an economic crisis in the Marvel Comics world so [they’re saying to me], ‘We’re not making that deal.’”
If true, Jackson would be the second person to lose out because of financial matters. Last October, contract negotiations were cited as the main reason behind Terrence Howard’s replacement.

Tommy Lee Jones Sues Paramount For $10 Million
Posted by Robin Paulson Categories: Paramount, Action, Adventure, Drama, Noir, Thrillers, Box Office, Celebrity Gossip, Celebrity Controversy, Corporate Shakeups, Rumors

While Fox and Warner Bros. are dealing with their battles, Paramount now has to deal with one of their own, thanks to a $10 million dollar lawsuit compliments of Tommy Lee Jones.
The veteran actor is seeking payment that he claims is rightfully owed to him for the services he provided for the 2007 Coen Brothers’ hit, No Country For Old Men.
Although both Paramount and Jones declined to comment, the actor’s publicist simply pointed to the lawsuit, which notes a contract N.M. Classics (a subsidiary of Paramount’s) that promises Jones “significant box-office bonuses and ‘back-end’ compensation.”
