Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Satire, Science Fiction, Comedy, Videos
Could there possibly be some connection between the (rumored) end of the world and the next presidential election?
In this trailer for Palin 2012, Saturday Night Live explores what might happen if Sarah Palin and Glenn Beck were put on the political ticket.
If this scenario comes true, the former Alaskan governor might not be able to see Russia so clearly anymore.

Ewan McGregor’s Bond with a Goat
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Action, Political, Satire, Comedy, Celebrity Gossip, Upcoming Releases
Ewan McGregor had a magical connection with the goat who starred in his latest movie. The Scottish actor had to work alongside the animal in upcoming film The Men Who Stare Goats and admits they became very close.
“There was a scene when George [Clooney] and I are lost, and we are sleeping in the desert. I am supposed to be awakened when a goat with a little bell walks by. I follow the goat and it leads us to water. It saves our lives. We did the first take and the goat just ran through,” Ewan said. “But in the second take, the goat looked at me and it stopped perfectly in the frame. It stood there looking at me for almost 30 seconds. I looked at the goat and the goat looked at me, then it was almost as if he nodded and just carried on. It was absolutely perfect.”
Ewan is not the only star of the movie to have praised the goat. George recently joked he wanted the Velvet Goldmine star to take acting lessons from the goat because it was more talented. “I’m now working with goats, we spent a lot of time together. The goat I had to stare out was a great actor - if you told him to do something he would. Now if I only I had got Ewan to take lessons from him we’d be onto a winner!” he quipped. “But although they were good, I don’t think I want to be working with animals again in the near future!”
The Men Who Stare at Goats opens Friday, November 6.

George Clooney Shocked By Stripper Fan

What do you do when you’re George Clooney, and a gay fan strips and asks you for sex?
The 48-year-old actor, who is widely considered one of Hollywood’s sexiest actors, was promoting new movie The Men Who Stare at Goats when the infatuated admirer declared his feelings. The unidentified male stood up in the press conference and said, “I am gay, George, and I think I am in love with you… Please take me.”

Jason Bateman Considers Drug Boost
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Miramax, Satire, Comedy, Celebrity Gossip
Jason Bateman thinks that being a drug addict would land him more roles.
The Extract star admits he worries that his clean-cut image is spoiling his chances of landing edgier film roles and things he needs to find a way to sully his reputation (Beavis and Butthead will tell you otherwise).
“I’m not sure there’s a lot of money in that kind of image in Hollywood. What I need to do is generate a drug problem and cheat on my wife a little bit and get caught with some little starlet on the French Riviera.”
Despite his reputation, Jason insists his life hasn’t always been trouble free and he is glad he could make mistakes out of the public eye. He added to Parade:
“The truth is I wasn’t a guy who stayed out of trouble. I had worked so much when I was a kid that I didn’t get to go to college. My 20s were my fraternity life. I made a bunch of bad decisions, but I didn’t end up getting arrested. Fortunately, celebrity journalism was not around and I got away with it.”

First Look: Clooney and Bridges Staring at Goats
Posted by Robin Paulson Categories: Action, Political, Satire, Comedy, Trailers, Upcoming Releases
Considering George Clooney‘s upcoming film, The Men Who Stare at Goats, centers around cloud-busting, flying, Jedi-trained psychic killers hired by the government, I’m shocked that I haven’t heard about this film sooner.
With Jeff Bridges, Ewan McGregor, Kevin Spacey, and J.K. Simmons rounding off the cast, I can’t say that I disagree with E! as they dub this movie the “Greatest Film Ever Made.” The goats drop when the eccentric comedy hits theaters November 6.

Lionsgate Picks Up Kick-Ass
Posted by Robin Paulson Categories: Lionsgate, Action, Adaptation, Horror, Satire, Comedy, Distribution, Upcoming Releases
Mark Millar and John Romita Jr.‘s brutal, satirical comic book, Kick-Ass, turned quite a few heads last month when a clip from the film adaptation was showcased at San Diego Comic Con. One of those heads turned out to be the key to landing their U.S. and Canadian distributor, Lionsgate Films.
Director Matthew Vaughn has, with the help of his own company Marv Films and Plan B Entertainment, financed the film after studios turned it down (most likely due to prepubescent Hit Girl’s uber samurai-carnage).
Lionsgate, which aims to see a wide-release in 2010, beat out Universal, Paramount and Fox Searchlight (among others) for the rights.
Considering its proclivity towards violence (Saw, The Midnight Meat Train, Hostel: Part II) and eyebrow-raising material (Religulous, W.), I would say that Vaughn and company should feel safe in the company’s money-making arms.

My Girl Star: All Grown Up

Though you probably remember her best as Vada Sultenfuss or perhaps “that little cutie from My Girl,” Anna Chlumsky, now 28, has lived much of her life far removed from the golden glitter of Hollywood.
“Show business got really tainted for me,” Chlumsky explained, still wearing the characteristic smile that lit up the screen in My Girl and My Girl 2. For years, a third My Girl film (tentatively titled Still My Girl) has been in the works. Dan Aykroyd and Chlumsky are both attached to the project.

Gay Community Split Over Baron’s Bruno
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Universal, Satire, Comedy, Celeb News, Celebrity Gossip, New Releases

Apparently, lightning does strike twice. At least, this seems to be the case for Sacha Baron Cohen. After gaining plenty of attention (and revenue) with Borat, Cohen turned homosexuality on its ear with his flamboyant character Bruno. The film is number one at the box office and already getting more press than you can shake a stick at, but that doesn’t mean he’s got the full support of the gay community.
Jarrett Barrios, soon-to-be president of GLAAD (Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation), issued a statement regarding Cohen’s character, saying the comedian used too many stereotypes in his depiction of a gay kid from Nebraska. The organization spoke to Universal Pictures about their concerns, but the studio maintains that Bruno is meant to challenge homophobia.

Consider the hype over Brüno after a very funny and, dare I say (I will), brilliant Borat. Also consider how many times you and your friends have said, “D and G. Dolce and Gabana… Hello!” Obviously, there are going to be lots of expectations and anticipation, which was definitely the case when I sat down in my seat, readying myself to laugh hard and be shocked because you knew it was going to happen. Well, the laughs did come and the shock was definitely there. It was so bad, some mother who brought her adolescent daughters actually walked out of the theater after five minutes. But, seriously, what was she expecting?
The film follows the same cinematography of Borat with hidden cameras, an exponential amount of locations, spliced scenes within scenes, and the embarrassment of real-life people that have no idea that they are looking either very dumb, very homophobic, and/or very punked. Sacha Baron Cohen is an unbelievable comedic actor and he sells playing his character Brüno very well. And if you’ve seen Brüno appearing on various talk shows to promote the movie, such as David Letterman, you know this already.
