Eugene Levy Blames American Pie for Gross Hollywood Humor

Eugene LevyEugene Levy thinks the American Pie films have led to other movies focusing "too much" on bodily functions.

The 65-year-old actor - who plays Jim's dad Noah Levenstein in the film series - believes the franchise has inspired other productions to push the boundaries of taste in comedy to the limit, but warns there is a point where such bathroom humor "can step over the bar."

"The dangerous thing about what it's spawned is that sometimes there's a little bit too much emphasis on, y'know, bodily functions. It's the anti-Noel Coward approach to getting a laugh. At some point you can't go any lower. You'll get to the point where you can step over the bar."

Eugene believes the first American Pie movie in 1999 - which featured a scene where Jason Biggs pleasures himself with a warm apple pie - has led to other directors feeling they "have to" include some bathroom humor in their film because it's "too easy" to get a "big laugh."

Jason Biggs Will Always be Known for Pie Sex Scene

Jason Biggs

Jason Biggs will "never live down" being the "guy who f**ked a pie." The 33-year-old actor - who plays Jim Levenstein in the American Pie franchise - admitted while he has lived most of his life being the "pie guy," in reference to his character masturbating with the use of a warm dessert in the first movie, he is "proud" of the now infamous scene.

"I'll never live down being the guy who f**ked a pie. I've lived almost more of my life being the 'pie guy' than I have not being that guy. But I'm proud of that scene and what it meant for my career, my personal life, my finances - everything. It took balls to do that scene."

Another American Pie Movie in the Oven

American Pie movie poster

But maybe this time, it’ll have more plot than Naked Mile. The American Pie franchise is still chugging along, but hopefully the next sequel won’t follow the ill-fated Beta House route.

The aptly-named American Reunion plans to reunite the cast from the very first (and incredibly successful) American Pie movie. Jason Biggs, Eugene Levy and Sean William Scott are all on board with the project (though, considering Scott’s recent move to rehab his fate is now up in the air). Tara Reid, Chris Klein, Thomas Ian Nicholas, Mena Suvari, Alyson Hannigan and Jennifer Coolidge are all in talks with Universal about their proposed participation in the film.

Filming is slated to begin in May.

Jennifer Coolidge: The Downside of Being Stifler’s Mom

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Celebrity Gossip,

Jennifer Coolidge

says being recognized as “Stifler’s mom” from American Pie can be tiresome.

The buxom actress, best known for her sexy part in the teenage comedy, admits the fame the role has bought to her life can occasionally get on her nerves.

“There’s no private time. It gets tiring,” she said. “Some people are really nice about it. I get Saudi princes and famous people stopping me in LA and saying, ‘You’re Stifler’s mom, can I take a picture with you?’ But then you get people putting their camera in your face without asking. They think they can do whatever they like.”

Not Another American Pie!

American Pie

Through what could end up being a colossally bad idea, the American Pie franchise is going to get a little bigger. That’s right - Hollywood gossip says this dead horse is coming back to the theaters for yet another sequel.

What, you aren’t ready for a seventh helping?

Yes, it’s true. If you didn’t know (and you probably didn’t), there are six Pie movies total (1 and 2, Wedding, Band Camp, The Naked Mile and Beta House). Oh, and the new one - supposing it actually ends up happening.

According to rumor, the film is to be dubbed American Pie 4 (a sequel to American Wedding) and will be released in theaters. That is, provided there’s a script, a cast and a crew. So far, none of the franchise stars are contracted to the project.
