New Sherlock Holmes Trailer Unveiled


If you’re pretending to be British and celebrating Guy Fawkes Day, you might as well keep up the charade by checking out the new trailer for Sherlock Holmes, starring Robert Downey, Jr. and Jude Law.

In what can only seem to be complete bad-ass-ness (smart jokes, narrated three-step guide to knocking someone out, Rachel McAdams, etc.), the film appears to have a good chance at holding its own during this Christmas Day’s battlefield for the box office.

What secret weapon does director Guy Ritchie have in store for the action-packed thriller? He calls it a family movie!

First Look: Ledger in The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus Trailer


Is it possible that a trailer can make you feel giddy yet sad all at the same time?

In this trailer for , we get to see Heath Ledger on the big screen for the final time. Although the project was put in limbo after the Oscar winner’s January 2008 death, the generosity of three fellow actors helped save the film.

Instead of scrapping the movie altogether, director Terry Gilliam (Brazil) recruited Johnny Depp, Jude Law and Colin Farrell for the adventure. The three men not only donated their time, they donated their fees to Matilda Ledger, Heath’s daughter.

Parnassus - also starring Christopher Plummer, Tom Waits, Verne Troyer and Lily Cole - opens on Oct. 16.

Later this winter, will set aside gadgets and body armor to reveal “fighting skills as lethal as his legendary intellect.”

In , Downey will team up with another Oscar-nominee (Jude Law as Dr. John Watson) to foil a plot that could destroy Britain. Sherlock also stars Rachel McAdams as Irene Adler and Mark Strong as Lord Blackwood.

The Guy Ritchie film - previously scheduled for a November 20 release - will open on Christmas Day.

Ledger’s Last Flick: Will We See It?

Though he died at a relatively young age, left behind an impressive body of work for fans to enjoy. This Oscar-winning actor has been highly celebrated for his award-winning role in The Dark Knight, a film widely believed to be his last. It is not.

At the time of his death, Ledger was in the midst of filming . The indie flick details the life of a traveling magician. In order to complete the film, actors Jude Law, Colin Farrell and Johnny Depp finished scenes which would have featured Ledger.

The movie has now been completed for six months, but there are currently no deals in the works to bring the flick to the US market. Though major distributors stepped forward months ago, these deals reportedly fell apart and currently there’s nothing in the till. Does this mean we’ll never see Ledger’s last movie?

Don’t count on it. Sooner or later, someone will pick up the movie and bring it to US audiences.

We always knew was a pretty boy…but who knew he was also a great-looking woman?

In his next film, Rage, the 36-year-old actor plays Minx, a “celebrity super-model.” According to the writer/director’s website, the black comedy is “a bitterly funny exposé of the inner lives of individuals working at a New York fashion house – as if shot by a schoolboy on his cellphone camera - over seven days in which an accident on the runway becomes a murder investigation.”

No release date has yet been announced for Rage. The film also stars Judi Dench, Dianne Wiest and Steve Buscemi.

For ‘s next role, the actor will be getting about as far away as he probably could from his popular Iron Man role.

In Sherlock Holmes, Downey will be taking on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s famous literary detective. The Columbia Pictures film - also starring (Dr. John Watson) and Rachel McAdams (Irene Alder) - will be directed by RocknRolla‘s Guy Ritchie.

Here’s a quick look at some of the casting announcements made recently:

Michael Douglas: Douglas - who hasn’t been in a hit in quite some time - has had his name attached to two different projects in the past few weeks. For Solitary Man, the Oscar-winner will return to a subject he is quite familiar with: infidelity. Michael is set to play a car magnate whose life is affected by business and marital problems. Production on Solitary begins in November. Meanwhile, Douglas is also planning to reteam with his Traffic director (Steven Soderbergh) for a biopic on Liberace. Michael will tackle the role of the flamboyant character while Matt Damon is in discussions to play Scott Thorson, a man who sued the pianist for palimony.
