Skyfall Budget Cuts Mean UK Shoot

James Bond movie Skyfall is to shoot almost entirely in the UK.
The forthcoming 23rd installment of the franchise - starring Daniel Craig, Javier Bardem and Dame Judi Dench - was expected to shoot in locations across the globe including Bali and China, but budget cuts means Turkey is now the only other country the movie will go to.
"Six different countries were selected but after several technical and financial problems, it was decided to scale back and just use Turkey as the sole foreign location," a source said.
British beaches will be used - including Bognor Regis on the south coast - in addition to Pinewood Studios. "As well as Pinewood's incredible facilities, the UK has some stunning beaches, particularly along the south coast near Bognor and parts of Wales," the source added.
Skyfall has already begun shooting on location in London including Canary Wharf and Charing Cross, and the film - being directed by Sam Mendes - is due for release in November.

James Bond is to return to movie screens next year.
Daniel Craig will reprise his role as the suave British spy in the 23rd screen adventure in November 2012, after the film was finally given the go-ahead, nine months after it was originally shelved amid money problems for studio MGM.
Sam Mendes will direct the film, while legendary actress Dame Judi Dench is believed to be returning as M. Frost/Nixon actor Michael Sheen has reportedly been approached to play the villain while a Bond girl to play opposite heartthrob Craig is yet to be decided.
"I think I'm going to be needed in spring of 2011. That's a message I got," Judi previously said.
Actor Simon Russell Beale has been linked with a role after being watched twice by Bond producer Barbara Brocolli in his current West End play Deathtrap - and is also playing King Lear in 2012 under the direction of Sam Mendes. "Every actor wants to be in Bond and I'd love to be a baddie," he recently said.
The script, meanwhile, is being penned by regular contributors Neal Purvis and Robert Wade along with John Logan who worked on Hollywood hits Gladiator, The Aviator and The Last Samurai. Shooting will start later this year and its release will coincide with the 50th anniversary of the first Bond film, Dr No.
MGM Indefinitely Suspends Next Bond Film

Production on the 23rd James Bond movie has been suspended.
Michael Wilson and Barbara Broccoli - producers on the movie - claim the future of film studio MGM is halting suspension on the project, which will be Daniel Craig‘s third outing as the British spy. In a statement, the pair told Variety, “Due to the continuing uncertainty surrounding the future of MGM and the failure to close a sale of the studio, we have suspended development on Bond 23 indefinitely. We do not know when development will resume and do not have a date for the release of Bond 23.

007 May Come in 3D

The next installment in 007 franchise has reportedly been delayed because the bosses want to take advantage of the latest technology.
“The 23rd Bond movie has been put back a few months and that has given them the time to prepare to film it in 3-D. Everyone involved in the project is really excited because it will take the franchise in a new direction,” an insider said.
The as-yet-untitled project had already been delayed due to issues surrounding the impending sale of MGM Studios.
“Our timeline’s a little up in the air, so we have to be flexible. We just don’t know enough about the situation to comment, but we know it’s uncertain,” producer Michael G. Wilson previously stated.

Twister: Actor Bill Paxton recently expressed interest in doing another Twister film. Question is: is anyone else interested? (Aside from the Balloon Boy family?) Bill believes 3-D technology and a history angle could bring added elements to the disaster story. “I think you’d still want to have a lot of the dark humor and all of that, with the flying cows and everything. I think you could kind of intrigue people more by getting into a little more of the lore and really understanding. I just think there’s a lot more to explore there,” Paxton said.

Sam Mendes Fears for Big Dramas

Sam Mendes claims the recession has made Hollywood dramas and period movies are “almost impossible” to make.
The director says that while his recent movie, Away We Go, had been done “very cheaply,” other films are struggling in the current economic climate.
“The recession has hit the industry in a very odd way as big movies are more popular than ever,” Mendes said to BBC Radio 4’s The Film Programme. “But the movies in the middle are almost getting squeezed out, which is the big dramas, the movies that do cost a bit of money with well-known actors in them.”

While the Michael Bay film is definitely on track to be one of the most successful entries this year (let’s not forget about Harry Potter), the sequel’s opening still takes second behind last year’s topper. During its opening run, The Dark Knight earned $203.8 million domestically.
