Patrick Swayze Diagnosed with Cancer

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Celeb News, Rumors

Patrick SwayzeAfter rumors starting swirling around the internet today, reps for had to confirm the unfortunate news:  the actor has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.

The National Enquirer has been reporting exclusively that the 55-year-old has been given only five weeks left to live.  The tabloid claims the cancer, which was discovered in late January, has already spread to other organs.

While the details of Swayze’s current condition was left vague, a statement released today seems to contradict the dire news:

“Patrick has a very limited amount of disease and he appears to be responding well to treatment thus far. All of the reports stating the timeframe of his prognosis and his physical side effects are absolutely untrue. We are considerably more optimistic.

Patrick is continuing his normal schedule during this time, which includes working on upcoming projects. The outpouring of support and concern he has already received from the public is deeply appreciated by Patrick and his family.”

Whatever the truth is, we truly wish the best for Swayze and the rest of his family.

Interview With Martin McDonagh and Colin Farrell of ‘In Bruges’

Colin Farrell and Martin McDonagh

Last week, FilmCrunch had the opportunity to interview Martin McDonagh and Colin Farrell, director and star of the upcoming film In Bruges.

Ray (Colin Farrell) and Ken (Brendan Gleeson) are two hitmen sent to the Belgian city of Bruges after a botched job in London. They’ve been told by their boss, Harry (Ralph Fiennes), to do some sight-seeing, lie low and await further instruction. But the city, full of ancient architecture and historical landmarks, can’t satiate Ray and his need for distraction. The men venture out and soon discover that beneath the city’s quaint exterior lies a strange and disturbing underbelly, a surreal setting that causes them to begin to question life and death, right and wrong, and the purpose behind their little “vacation.”

For more about the film, visit the official site or read the FilmCrunch review.

Jackie Chan Disappointed By ‘Rush Hour’ Films

Jackie ChanShould we excuse an actor for making a film he didn’t even like—especially when it takes in millions of our theater dollars?

, who co-starred with in the series, is now admitting his indifference toward all three installments.

Although he never really understood the humor, the Hong Kong star participated in the original 1998 version in hopes of establishing crossover appeal.  Money and ‘fan satisfaction’ were simply the motivators for the next two.  Granted, he wouldn’t be the first person to admit he made a sequel for the paycheck—but he may be one of the few to admit he wasn’t a fan of his own work (especially when his movie is still in the theaters).  And while the fight scenes might have been too watered down for Chan’s taste, American audiences liked them enough to help each film gross over $137 million or more.

So what do you think about this?  Do you believe Chan should leave his preferences/opinions behind if he’s going to make a film in the US?  Is it right for him to bash a series he was partially responsible in making?  Or do you agree with his perspective on the Rush Hour series overall?

How ‘bout you?  What do you think about this latest pairing?  (You can see a picture of them via the link below)
