Cinecast: Star Wars VII Casting, Tarantino’s New Film, Marvel’s ‘Ultimates’

Margot Robbie+ Jesse Plemons - famous for both his role as Breaking Bad's Todd and looking a lot like a younger Philip Seymour Hoffman - is apparently being called back for Star Wars: Episode VII auditions, although Disney/Lucasfilm is keeping mum about it.

+ No one has been cast yet and it's due to begin production this summer, but because it's a Quentin Tarantino project, you can guarantee that it will be full of awesomesauce. Especially considering the name of the film is officially The Hateful Eight (for those who don't know, it's a reference to the famous 1960 western The Magnificient Seven).

+ Marvel has released details on its upcoming Ultimates project, which will apparently not feature one single white guy (yay!) - both leading male superheroes will be of a non-white background. Also more yayness: the All-New Ultimates will see FOUR female superheroes on the team.

+ Despite the meteoric success she's had starring in the Martin Scorsese black comedy The Wolf of Wall Street, Australian actress Margot Robbie says that she wants to be cast in a Quentin Tarantino film next.

Christina Applegate Hasn’t Been Approached For Anchorman 2

Christina Applegate as Veronica CorningstoneChristina Applegate hasn't been approached for the Anchorman sequel.

Although the 40-year-old actress, who played Veronica Corningstone in the 2004 original alongside Will Ferrell as Ron Burgundy, has been linked to the follow up, she has not yet received an offer and admitted she has no idea what's happening with the movie.

"I really don't know the status or if it's all going to happen," she told E! News. However, Christina revealed she would love to reunite with Will and rest of the cast and will happily take any part in the film: "Of course I would love to be there. They know that. The world knows that. Why would I not want to? It's the best job I've ever had. They know that I want to be there. Even if it's just a walk-on."

Christina still has time to sign up for the film as writer/director Adam McKay has previously revealed it won't start shooting until February 2013.

Anchorman 2 Script is a Work in Progress

Will Ferrell as Ron Burgundy in AnchormanAnchoman 2 is "literally five pages of story notes." The sequel to the Will Ferrell starring movie - about hapless local news reporter Ron Burgundy - has been given the green light by Paramount studios, and now Will and director Adam McKay have to decide what shape the story will take.

"The script? It's about two per cent. Or half a per cent? It's literally five pages of story notes and pieces and chunks of story. We're holing up and writing for the next three months," McKay told Empire.

The film has a huge legacy to live up to after the first movie was so well received, and the director concedes it is unlikely to be as popular, but that doesn't mean it won't be a great movie: "We almost have to walk into this knowing it'll never be as good as that fresh first time, and once you give that up, you can just worry about making a good movie. We're trying to get our minds set to the idea of, 'Let's just do the craziest stuff'. Whatever makes us laugh, we're doing. There's going to be a lot of improvisation in this."

The Anchorman director is expected to start work on the project after completing the sequel to the Will Ferrell comedy, which is set for an early 2013 start and 2014 release. Will Smith and Denzel Washington are in line to star in the film with the Men in Black star and James Lassiter's Overbrook Entertainment developing the movie, Deadline reports.

The 1974 motion picture - which starred Bill Cosby, Sidney Poitier, Harry Belafonte and Flip Wilson - sees friends Steve Jackson (Sidney) and Wardell Franklin (Bill) partying at a illegal nightclub when they are forced to hand over their wallets to masked bandits. But the day after Steve learns that his wallet contained a winning lottery ticket, so the pair enlist the help of underworld crime bosses and fake detectives as they set out to get his winnings back.

Timothy Dowling - who wrote the script for This Means War - is in line to pen the movie and he has previously described the film as having a "similar tone" to 2009 comedy The Hangover.

The Anchorman 2 characters can expect a "big blast of change" compared to the first installment of the film. Writer/director Adam McKay isn't expecting the movie's stars - which will include news presenter Ron Burgundy, who is played by Will Ferrell - to cope with the differences in the follow up to the 2004 comedy movie because there will be "a lot of innovation" thrown in their direction.

"We know these guys never deal well with change, and the good thing is that there's a big blast of change coming, according to the regular timeline. We're going to be throwing a lot of innovation at them, and they're not going to handle it well," he said.
