Joss Whedon Was Serious About Terminator Bid

When I read Joss Whedon‘s open letter (seen in full after the jump) to the Terminator owners (putting down a $10,000 bid for the rights), I laughed so hard that I actually didn’t think that the Dollhouse creator penned it himself.
Up against moguls like Sony Pictures and Summit Entertainment (the folks behind the very profitable Twilight franchise), Whedon barely seems to stand a chance as he waves his meager $10,000 offer around—was he serious at all? Turns out that the geek extraordinaire hasn’t wanted money this badly “since they auctioned off frames from The Little Mermaid.”
When asked if he finds his bidding laughable, Whedon remarked, “What do you mean, funny?! You think $10,000 is funny?! Here’s the thing: It’s not a slam on The Terminator. I love The Terminator. That part’s totally true. So you know what, never hurts to ask.”
To much of his fans’ surprise, the writer-director claims that he doesn’t just like the series because his former co-worker Summer Glau was on the television series: “I loved the movies, even the later movies. I loved the mythology. I loved the TV show [The Sarah Connor Chronicles]–like, really loved. Not for pretend. And not just because of [star] Summer [Glau].”

Wolverine: Oscar award-winning screenwriter Christopher McQuarrie (The Usual Suspects) has been tapped to write the follow-up to Wolverine. The movie, which will be produced by Hugh Jackman, is not to be confused with the Deadpool spinoff focusing on Ryan Reynold’s character. This Japan-set film will follow Wolverine as he struggles between his killer instincts and the noble life of samurais. McQuarrie also did some work on the 2000 X-Men film.

Schwarzenegger Makes Digital Cameo in Terminator Salvation
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Warner Bros, Action, Adventure, Science Fiction, Sequels, Casting, Celeb News, Technology, Upcoming Releases
Although Arnold Schwarzenegger seemed unsure about the future of the Terminator franchise, California’s govenor knows one thing for sure: a paycheck is a paycheck.
After months of speculation, it turns out the former action star will be included in the upcoming sequel after all. But unlike his recent work for The Expendables, this gig will not require any time away from his day job. According to Variety, all that he needed to do was put a thumb up. Director McG has incorporated Schwarzenegger’s image using a body mold that was cast in a previous installment. The final digital result will appear as a live actor.
Arnold won’t be the only veteran included in next month’s blockbuster. It was previously announced that Linda Hamilton will provide a short voice over as well.
Terminator Salvation premieres on May 21.

Schwarzenegger’s Thoughts on Terminator Salvation
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Warner Bros, Action, Science Fiction, Sequels

Even though he should have been concerned with more pressing issues (e.g. aftershocks, wildfires), California Governor Arnold Schwarznegger took time out last week to talk about another thing matter close to his heart.
As a courtesy, Schwarzenegger was recently given an advanced look at some of the scenes from Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins. The former actor, who starred in the three previous films, won his state’s recall election shortly before T3 hit the screens.

It’s Bollywood for Stallone and Schwarzenegger
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Universal, Casting, Celeb News, Upcoming Releases

When I think of Bollywood, I usually envision colorful garments, dancing and singing…not two-word sentences, muscles or HGH. But apparently that’s what you get when you throw Hollywood into the mix.
It’s just been announced that Sylvester Stallone - yes, Sly - will follow up his roles in the latest Rocky and Rambo sequels with a stint in a Bollywood film. As a cast member in Incredible Love, Stallone will become the first well-known American actor to be featured in such a vehicle.

‘The Terminator’ Returns In 2009
Posted by David Onda Categories: Warner Bros, Action, Adventure, Science Fiction, Sequels, Thrillers, Filmmaking, Scripts, Upcoming Releases
The Terminator said he’d be back, and by golly, he wasn’t kidding. Warner Bros. has acquired the distribution rights to Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins, the fourth film in the Terminator series. Set to begin production in 2008 and hit theaters in the summer of 2009, Salvation is being touted as a franchise jumpstart which will be told over a three-movie span.
It has been nearly 5 years since the last Terminator film, Rise of the Machines, hit theaters and Salvation is planned to be a movie of equal size and budget. With the script completed, producers are hinting at a general plot – set in the future during a full-scale war between man and machines. The new trilogy will involve characters from the first films but will be presented in a fresh setting beyond the world fans were introduced to in the original trilogy.
Glorified music video director McG has been tapped to direct while the door has been left open for Governator Arnold Schwarzenegger to make a cameo. Next year will mark another big event for the Terminator franchise as the long-awaited The Sarah Connor Chronicles makes its television debut on FOX. The series picks up where T2 left off and stars 300’s Lena Headey as the kick-ass Connor. Whether sci-fi fans will take to the series is yet to be seen, but there is little doubt in my mind that this franchise still has legs.
