Arrested Development Movie Script Coming Soon

Jason BatemanJason Bateman could hardly contain his excitement when reporters grabbed in at the Paul red carpet this week. “It’s incredible,” he said of the upcoming Arrested Development movie.

Bateman hasn’t yet seen the script that’s been partially penned by Mitch Hurwitz, but he has been in talks about the story that will unfold on film. The actor says that “odds of [Hurwitz] getting it done before the end of the year… are good.”

“We are embarrassed,” he admitted, because it has taken so long for an Arrested Development movie to come to fruition. But, things are happening, and this should bolster fans of the show.

The series ran on FOX for three seasons, from 2003 to 2006.

Cinema Scene: Joss Whedon Helms Avengers, Del Toro’s Haunted Mansion

Joss Whedon-Buffy the Vampire Slayer‘s Joss Whedon officially announced at Comic-Con that he will be directing The Avengers. The superhero film is scheduled for a May 4, 2012 release.

-According to Will Arnett and show creator Mitch Hurwitz, the Arrested Development movie is still going to happen. I guess I’ll believe it when I see it?

-Lionsgate finally blinked. Saw 3D, originally scheduled to debut on Oct. 22, has been pushed to Oct. 29 - one week after Paranormal Activity 2 premieres.

-A Hobbit-less Guillermo del Toro is focusing on his next project. He is now planning to produce, write and possibly direct a scary version of Disney’s The Haunted Mansion.

-Darren Aronofsky’s Black Swan, starring Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis, has been chosen to open the 67th Venice Film Festival. The festival opens September 1.

Arrested Development Stars Talk About Planned Movie

Michael Cera and Jason Bateman in Arrested DevelopmentMichael Cera can’t wait to work with his “family” again.

The actor, who was unhappy when the sitcom was canceled in 2006, is looking forward to reteaming with Jason Bateman, Portia de Rossi, Will Arnett, and David Cross for a movie version next year.

“I’m really excited to get to be around everyone again. It was so weird when the show was cancelled. You’re doing a TV show, and it feels like family, and then you’re not doing it anymore,” he said. “It was a really strange thing to leave. I’m excited to be around them all again. I think sometime next year, hopefully, we’ll be shooting. I think that’s realistic.”

Jason recently admitted he was concerned about fan interest in a big screen production. “Perhaps that ship has sailed,” Bateman stated.

Will ‘Arrested Development’ Come to the Big Screen?

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Adaptation, Comedy, Rumors

Arrested DevelopmentIn a recent radio interview, actor revealed some exciting news to fans.  The show may be turned into a movie.

Tambor told an XM Radio program that he recently received a phone call from Ron Howard, the series’ Executive Producer and narrator.  Howard wanted to gauge his interest in a possible reunion.  It seems there’s been a real “push” to have a film made.  Jeffrey expressed excitement about the project and claimed co-star would be up for it as well.

Although the show had a strong fan base, critical acclaim and an Emmy Award for Outstanding Comedy Series, the show never found the numbers (or network support) it needed to last more than three seasons.  So I guess the question is: Can the program translate to the big screen?  If a lack of interest was what killed the series to being with, could it possibly succeed in a different format?

What about Bateman?  Would he really be up for it?  That guy has really had a nice film streak as of late.  And let’s not forget , the new poster boy for geeks everywhere.

Maybe the producers should wait and see how and fare before setting anything in stone.
