Let the Oscar buzz begin.
Meryl Streep will go to work next month to film The Iron Lady, a biopic focusing on Britain’s former prime minister Margaret Thatcher, who served from 1979 to 1990.
“She’s perfect casting in many ways,” Jim Broadbent, who plays Thatcher’s husband Denis, said of Streep. “She’ll absolutely do it in a brilliant way.”
Margaret Thatcher was Britian’s first female prime minister, and her gender will be a central thesis of the film.
Meryl Streep is an American by birth and citizenship, and her costar says she’ll bring a unique point of view to the script.
“She can bring an outsider’s view of the story, so that it won’t become a lazy, parochial piece that Brits understand but where nobody else really knows what’s going on.”

The building, being constructed out of papier mache and bamboo, will become part of the biggest Hindu religious celebration in eastern India this month. Hogwarts’ exterior will be completely replicated, even featuring an imitation marble staircase and stone floor in the entrance hall, which will be lit by flaming torches.
