George Clooney Is Planning to Retire

George ClooneyGeorge Clooney thinks that he's getting too old for acting.

The 52-year-old star has hinted he is thinking about retiring from the big screen in the near future to focus on his work as a producer and director. But George insisted he is still very passionate about his career: "Every time you can make a movie to tell a story that people don't know, it's good."

The Oscar-winning actor also joked about how difficult it was to work with his co-star Matt Damon, who also attended the red carpet screening, on the movie, which is based on the true story of a team of soldiers who recovered millions of pieces of artwork stolen by the Nazis in WWII. "It was hard to get him out of his trailer sometimes. I don't like to use the word diva and throw it around loosely, but you know," he said.

The 30-year-old star has been catapulted into the limelight with various awards and nominations for her performance in 12 Years a Slave but admits she hadn't fully committed to a career in acting until she met Ralph while working as a production assistant on his film The Constant Gardener. "He asked me what I wanted to do with my life, and I very timidly admitted that I was interested in being an actor. He sighed and said, 'If there's something else that you want to do, do that. Nicolas Cage Explains His Career Choices

Nicolas CageNicolas Cage doesn't regret any of his career choices.

The Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance star doesn't have a problem with his decision to accept roles in big action movies, insisting he was motivated to try something new because of naysayers claiming he couldn't do it.

"I don't look at it like [regret]. Much has been made of the fact that I made many action movies. The reason I did that was because the first time people said, you couldn't do it. 'You are not an action hero, forget it.' So what you saw was a dramatic actor acting like an action hero, trying to find characters that were interesting within the genre. And then I tried to mix in a little Lord of War, a little World Trade Center, The Weather Man and Bad Lieutenant and keep the spectrum going. Now having done that, I want to focus on the dramatic kind of filmmaking."

The star described his latest role in Joe as the continued "process of reinventing" himself, with a keen focus on deeper characters he could get to grips with:

Matthew McConaughey: I Wanted Frightening Roles

Matthew McConaughey with wife Camila AlvesMatthew McConaughey wanted to take on film roles that "scare" him.

The actor, who has been nominated for an Oscar for his portrayal of a real-life AIDS victim in Dallas Buyers Club, made a conscious decision not to take a part in another romantic comedy, after appearing in How To Lose a Guy In 10 Days and Failure to Launch.

"I'm not going to carry on doing the same thing over and over. I was reading romantic comedies. And I liked them. But I wanted to do something that scares me a little bit. The first move was saying 'no' to scripts. That was six months of 'no' and then a year of nothing. And something happened. I gained anonymity and suddenly it became a good idea for William Friedkin [director] to call about Killer Joe or Steven Soderbergh about Magic Mike."

The 44-year-old star admits it was difficult not working for so long but he found comfort in his family, spending time with his wife Camila and their children, 13-month-old Livingston, Vida, four, and Levi, five.

Keira Knightley Is Tired of Her Characters Dying

Keira KnightleyKeira Knightley is tired of her characters dying in movies.

The 28-year-old actress appeared on the red carpet for the European premiere of her latest film, Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit at the Vue cinema in London's Leicester Square and said she chose to appear in an action film because it was more "fun" than some of her recent roles, which have included Never Let Me Go, A Dangerous Method and Seeking a Friend for the End of the World.

"I got to the end of Anna Karenina and I sort of realized that I'd either been dying in every film or something horrific was happening to me in every film, and I wanted to do something where that didn't happen. I wanted goodies and baddies... this is a piece of wonderful, totally pure Hollywood entertainment, which I fancied. And then I did two more movies - one called Can a Song Save Your Life and one called Laggies - that are just incredibly positive and fun."

Uma Thurman Needs a Job

Posted by Robin Paulson Categories: Celebrity Gossip,

Uma Thurman at this year's Golden Globe AwardsCalling all casting directors (and Quentin Tarantino): Uma Thurman is looking to be cast in your next project. Or at least, that's what the Oscar-nominated actress reiterated several times while she was likely a little inebriated at the Golden Globes after party on Sunday night.

According to The New York TImes, the 43-year-old was happy to respond to reporters' questions, but she did so with the same answer:

"Ms. Thurman grudgingly vamped for the cameras, then barked over her shoulder before dashing away, 'You’re a reporter — I need a job.' What was she wearing? 'I need a job.' Where was she headed? 'I need a job.'"

Clearly her stint on Smash in 2012 and her upcoming Lars Von Trier project, Nymphomaniac, aren't paying her bills these days.

Julia Roberts Admits Age Influences Her Film Roles

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Casting, Celeb News,

Julia Roberts admits she has become pickier about the film roles she accepts as she has gotten older.

The Oscar-winning actress is now 46 and she is happy to admit there are numerous parts she will no longer consider now she is a veteran screen star and is comfortable to accept she is not suitable to play suitable characters because she is a mature star.

When discussing the reason why she appears in less films now, she revealed, "There's a couple of things at play. For one, I'm 46 years old, so falling out of chairs isn't as funny. I could break a hip. Certain scenarios that worked 10 years ago aren't as appealing, as applicable, as believable, as original - all those things."

Julia says a lot of people have the misconception she takes on less work now because she wants to spend as much time as possible with her three children, twins Hazel and Phinnaeus, nine, and son Henry, six, whom she raises with her husband Danny Moder. While the August: Osage County star does prioritize her family over work, she is adamant that isn't the reason why she isn't now a prolific Hollywood actress: "I think people like to say that I'm super-picky because of how much I love my kids. But as an actor, I sort of pride myself on the fact that I've always been picky."

Leo DiCaprio: People in LA Make Bad Choices

Leonardo DiCaprioLeonardo DiCaprio saw people "intoxicated by their own self-importance" growing up in Los Angeles.

The actor doesn't think he'll ever get carried away with money like his character Jordan Belfort in Wolf of Wall Street or drugs or booze because he has seen people make bad choices and he doesn't want to do the same.

"I grew up in Los Angeles, I was born in Hollywood, so I've seen firsthand the destructive nature of that town and how people are intoxicated by their own self-importance and surrounded by temptation on a daily basis. I wouldn't say it was a dangerous place but there's all sorts of choices in life and I've always tried to focus on one thing. No matter how much talent you have you have to be in the right place in the right time. I understand that I'm lucky to be given this amazing opportunity, it's what I've always wanted to do so I'm not going to waste it."

Ben Stiller Has No Drive for Acting Any More

Ben StillerBen Stiller doesn't think he has a "drive" for acting any more.

The actor-and-director enjoyed making his latest film The Secret Life of Walter Mitty - in which he plays the titular lead character - and he wonders if his passion behind the camera has taken over:

"I don't want to ever be dismissive of it. To be a really great actor takes as much commitment as anything. But I do wonder sometimes, for me, if I have as much drive for that these days as I do to direct, because that I don't even question. But then it's also about finding the projects, and it's much more of a commitment. But you're not limited by being cast in something, what type you are, what roles you can play, because you are who you are, which is fine, but directing to me is so many possibilities, so many worlds to explore."
