Jennifer Connelly’s Dad Devastation

Jennifer Connelly and Paul Bettany in Creation

Jennifer Connelly came close to quitting Creation.

The actress was left devastated when her dad Gerard, who had been living with her, died of cancer on the first day of filming and admits only the support of her husband, co-star Paul Bettany, got her through making the movie.

“I was very close to my father. Without having Paul on set, I don’t know if I could have done it at all.”

Gael Garcia Bernal Wants Legal Drugs

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Celeb News, Celebrity Gossip

Gael Garcia Bernal wants drugs to be legalizedGael Garcia Bernal has called for drugs to be legalized.

The Mexican actor says the trade of illegal substances is the cause of the majority of problems in his home country and believes that if they were decriminalized, it would reduce crime.

The Motorcycle Diaries star explained, “Drugs are illegal—therefore, there’s a fight. I hope drugs become legalized in Mexico. If drugs were legal, there would be nothing to fight about.”

Gael is not the only actor to call for drugs to be legalized. Earlier this year, Rhys Ifans admitted he considers marijuana a “beneficial herb” and is adamant that it should be freely available. The Welsh actor, who is currently filming Mr. Nice, a biopic of notorious cannabis smuggler Howard Marks, said,

“A lot of people like dope in Wales and Howard is its champion. The reason why he sold it is because he thinks, and I agree, that it’s a beneficial herb. I feel marijuana should be legalized. Not so that people get high all over the place, but so it can be controlled. Drugs have been legal longer than they have been illegal, and it’s just hypocrisy to be able to sell alcohol to children while marijuana is illegal.”

Meryl Streep’s Catty Critic

Meryl Streep gets help from her cat with her linesWhy hire someone when you can rely on a trusty feline friend? Just ask Meryl Streep, whose cat helps her rehearse her movie lines!

The Oscar-winning actress reads the script to her pet to see if he is impressed by her performance. National Enquirer magazine reports:

“Every evening when she runs through her lines, her cat wraps himself around her feet. If her performance sounds insincere or boring he will suddenly stop purring and stalk out of the room. But if the tabby thinks Meryl has delivered her lines brilliantly, he will purr loudly and proudly. He is her most dependable critic.”

Meryl, 60, isn’t the only Hollywood star who shares a special bond with their pet—Drew Barrymore regularly speaks about her beloved yellow Labrador-Chow mix pet Flossie. She once said, “Flossie is like my little daughter. I can’t wait to have kids.”

Drew was saved by Flossie when a fire struck the $3 million mansion she shared with then-husband Tom Green in 2001. The actress claimed that she was woken in the early hours of the morning when Flossie barked after smelling smoke and “literally banged on the bedroom door” to alert the couple to the blaze.

Jodie Foster’s ‘The Brave One’ Opens Friday

The Brave One movie poster has been a permanent Hollywood fixture since she was a young girl, first gaining notice in Disney flicks like Freaky Friday (that’s right – Foster was in the original version of the flick, and she never buckled under pressure like ). She made a name for herself when she snagged a huge paycheck for The King and I, and she established herself as one of the baddest dames in the biz. Foster is back on the big screen in The Brave One, a tough-as-nails role that harks back to earlier Foster hits like The Silence of the Lambs and Panic Room. Jodie Foster plays Erica, a vigilante with little fear of personal peril or death. Critics say the film will even help viewers work out some of their 9/11 trauma, which is intriguing enough to take a closer look at the latest Foster flick. Get your tickets while you can – The Brave One opens Friday.

Jolie Dishes on Career, Family, and Brad

Angelina Jolie recently sat down with Marie Claire and Esquire magazines to talk about her life and the recent rumors that have cast suspicion on her happy relationship with Hollywood hunk Brad Pitt. Jolie told her interviewer that Pitt is often the more cautious and health-conscious one in the couple, providing a staying influence when Angelina wanted to walk around the property she purchased in Cambodia (which had to be de-mined for safety). Angelina also took the time to de-bunk break-up rumors that have surrounded her well-publicized relationship with , saying the two of them have reached their “comfort zone.” She says that right now, the two of them are very focused on the children (“changing diapers” – direct quote) and have little time for the reports that say they’re heading for Splitsville.
