Joss Whedon Was Serious About Terminator Bid

Joss Whedon, self-proclaimed mastermindWhen I read Joss Whedon‘s open letter (seen in full after the jump) to the Terminator owners (putting down a $10,000 bid for the rights), I laughed so hard that I actually didn’t think that the Dollhouse creator penned it himself.

Up against moguls like Sony Pictures and Summit Entertainment (the folks behind the very profitable Twilight franchise), Whedon barely seems to stand a chance as he waves his meager $10,000 offer around—was he serious at all? Turns out that the geek extraordinaire hasn’t wanted money this badly “since they auctioned off frames from The Little Mermaid.”

When asked if he finds his bidding laughable, Whedon remarked, “What do you mean, funny?! You think $10,000 is funny?! Here’s the thing: It’s not a slam on The Terminator. I love The Terminator. That part’s totally true. So you know what, never hurts to ask.”

To much of his fans’ surprise, the writer-director claims that he doesn’t just like the series because his former co-worker Summer Glau was on the television series: “I loved the movies, even the later movies. I loved the mythology. I loved the TV show [The Sarah Connor Chronicles]–like, really loved. Not for pretend. And not just because of [star] Summer [Glau].”

Michael Jackson To Be Played By Son

Omer Bhatti to play Michael Jackson in upcoming biopicThe casting director for an upcoming biopic of Michael Jackson need not look too far for casting—he’ll just hire the pop star’s “son” to play him in the new film.

Omer Bhatti, whom the late King of Pop told friends he had fathered, will play Michael in a movie charting his rise to superstardom in the ‘80s.

A source told Britain’s The Sun, “Michael’s story from childhood to the height of success is nothing short of astounding. The family feel fans would love to see a dramatic retelling. They want to cover his childhood and family life but really focus on when his career went into overdrive.”

Although Norwegian Omer, who has worked as a Michael Jackson impersonator, denies that Michael is his biological father, he has revealed that the singer used to tell him he was “like a son” to him.

He has also been welcomed by the Jackson family and sat in the front row at Michaels’ Los Angeles memorial service in July. Since Michael’s death in June, Omer has reportedly stayed at the Jacksons’ California home.

Catherine Zeta-Jones Quit Hollywood For Kids

Catherine Zeta-Jones with husband Michael Douglas and kidsEver wonder what happened to Catherine Zeta-Jones? Word is that the actress quit living in Hollywood for the sake of her children.

The Welsh starlet, who lives in Bermuda and New York with her actor husband Michael Douglas and their children, nine-year-old son Dylan and six-year-old-daughter Carys, was so frustrated with the constant paparazzi presence that she gave up her glamorous Los Angeles lifestyle to focus on her family life.

“When you live in Los Angeles you can’t go anywhere without being critiqued—on your purse of the fact that you have gained weight or that you have got spots on your face. That’s not the life I want. Deciding to live in beautiful Bermuda was the healthiest thing Michael and I ever did. Now that I have kids, that’s what my life is about.”

Catherine is also not concerned about turning 40 this Thursday—the same day her husband turns 65—because she doesn’t feel old: “I feel much younger than I am. When you are 10 or 20, 40 looks really old. When I was nearing 30 that seemed like a major milestone.”

Jennifer Connelly’s Dad Devastation

Jennifer Connelly and Paul Bettany in Creation

Jennifer Connelly came close to quitting Creation.

The actress was left devastated when her dad Gerard, who had been living with her, died of cancer on the first day of filming and admits only the support of her husband, co-star Paul Bettany, got her through making the movie.

“I was very close to my father. Without having Paul on set, I don’t know if I could have done it at all.”

Renee Zellweger at the scene of her car accidentRenee Zellweger ran into a bit of car trouble yesterday, having been involved in an accident.

The New In Town actress was involved in an accident in Beverly Hills, but was uninjured in the collision.

Police Lieutenant Tony Lee confirmed, “A green Ford Explorer made an illegal U-turn in front of her silver Mercedes. Ms. Zellweger was not injured, the damage to her car was very minor. She was very polite and sincere.”

The unnamed driver was attempting to leave a parking space when the incident took place, and swapped details with Renee shortly afterward. Lee explained, “The incident will be handled between their insurance companies. Ms. Zellweger requested her car be towed from the scene, and also requested that officers call her a cab.”

Renee’s spokesperson has not issued a statement regarding the accident.

The 40-year-old actress is believed to be dating Bradley Cooper, after the pair were seen enjoying several intimate dates in Barcelona, Spain. However, the actress is staying tight-lipped about the romance, saying, “I won’t talk about it. It leads to nowhere good.”

Meryl Streep’s Catty Critic

Meryl Streep gets help from her cat with her linesWhy hire someone when you can rely on a trusty feline friend? Just ask Meryl Streep, whose cat helps her rehearse her movie lines!

The Oscar-winning actress reads the script to her pet to see if he is impressed by her performance. National Enquirer magazine reports:

“Every evening when she runs through her lines, her cat wraps himself around her feet. If her performance sounds insincere or boring he will suddenly stop purring and stalk out of the room. But if the tabby thinks Meryl has delivered her lines brilliantly, he will purr loudly and proudly. He is her most dependable critic.”

Meryl, 60, isn’t the only Hollywood star who shares a special bond with their pet—Drew Barrymore regularly speaks about her beloved yellow Labrador-Chow mix pet Flossie. She once said, “Flossie is like my little daughter. I can’t wait to have kids.”

Drew was saved by Flossie when a fire struck the $3 million mansion she shared with then-husband Tom Green in 2001. The actress claimed that she was woken in the early hours of the morning when Flossie barked after smelling smoke and “literally banged on the bedroom door” to alert the couple to the blaze.

Sandra Bullock Stalks Men

Sandra Bullock as Mary HorowitzSandra Bullock says that stalking men is the best way to get a date.

The Hollywood star, whose character Mary Horowitz pursues her crush in new movie All About Steve, believes that you need to secretly follow potential suitors to find out what they like.

“How else do you get dates? I learned that you have to stalk and then make it look very innocent. Then once you get them you sort of shred receipts and you do things that sort of cover the paper trail of your stalking. I think it’s a necessary evil to sort of lure in your prey,” she jokes.

In All About Steve, Mary becomes obsessed with a man, played by Bradley Cooper, after going out on a blind date with him. Sandra also revealed she is terrible at crosswords, unlike her film character who constructs word games for a living, but loves seeing her name appear in puzzles.

“I can barely spell. I so admire people who just whiz through them. My name has been in several crosswords, so I guess that’s the only thing that really connects me. I always get the clue when I’m seven across or whatever. I get very excited, ‘I got that one. It’s me,’” she tells Parade Magazine.

My Girl Star: All Grown Up

My Girl

Though you probably remember her best as Vada Sultenfuss or perhaps “that little cutie from My Girl,” Anna Chlumsky, now 28, has lived much of her life far removed from the golden glitter of Hollywood.

“Show business got really tainted for me,” Chlumsky explained, still wearing the characteristic smile that lit up the screen in My Girl and My Girl 2. For years, a third My Girl film (tentatively titled Still My Girl) has been in the works. and Chlumsky are both attached to the project.

Beloved Hollywood Actor Karl Malden Dead at 97

Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Disney, Celeb News, Obituaries

You may remember him from a couple of Marlon Brando movies, or perhaps from a Disney classic or two, but the truth is that Karl Malden’s celebrated career encompassed more than fifty films. He was not a leading man, but he was definitely an acting powerhouse. Now, Malden’s fire has been snuffed out at the age of 97.

The actor died, surrounded by his family, of natural causes at his Brentwood home. It was a quiet end for the man with the resonant voice, who won a Best Supporting Actor for his role in A Streetcar Named Desire (Marlon Brando’s first major film; actress Vivien Leigh won her second Best Actress Oscar for the same movie).

Is Paris Hilton Getting Cold?

Paris HiltonWhen went to jail, it become the only media story in the entire world. For a while there, the heiress couldn’t make a single move without finding flashbulbs in her face. But Miss Hilton loves the attention, and she often makes herself available for photo-ops. Maybe…too much?

Hilton’s latest film project, , actually opened this weekend. I know with all the news of the writers strike and the rumors of a second Hannah Montana movie it’s hard to keep up with Hilton’s every move, but the flick came to theaters Feb. 8. Don’t worry - a lot of other people didn’t notice, either. The film, to date, has grossed a disappointing $27,696, which probably doesn’t even put a dent in Hilton’s movie salary.
