Posted by Robin Paulson Categories: Casting, Celebrity Gossip,

Christina AguileraAfter having made her mark in both music and television, Christina Aguilera is ready to break into the movie business, making it clear that she wants to slip into some darker roles.

When her 2010 film Burlesque was mentioned in a recent interview, The Voice mentor was quick to share her future career goals: "I do want to do more acting. I want to do something where I can really sink my teeth into something a little more challenging. Really outside of myself, outside of music."

But she won't do just any role: "I want it to be honest and genuine in expanding my wings and doing something really, really different. A crackhead on the street or a drug addict. Or something crazy and meaty and juicy. Something that really took me out of myself."

While it would be nice to see Aguilera spread her acting wings, the roles she's describing seem more appropriate for the likes of Lindsay Lohan...

Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Sony, Music, Musicals, Videos,

“What do I do in my show you wouldn’t see in that movie? Burlesque!” These words are from real-life burleque performer Kiki Valentine, who’s none too thrilled with the much-hyped, Golden Globe-nominated flick starring Cher and Christina Aguilera.

Valentine has been performing at the Ella Lounge in New York City for the last two years … but now, she’s quitting because of her unhappiness with the flick named after her art form.

Box Office Breakdown: Dawn Treader Sails Past Depp, Jolie

Voyage of the Dawn Treader

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader sailed to a first place finish this weekend despite a lackluster start. The latest C.S. Lewis adaptation – which was produced for an estimated $145 million – earned only $24 million in domestic sales. That figure is $31 million less than Prince Caspian’s debut and approximately $41 million below The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe’s premiere.

Landing into second place was The Tourist, which rang in a disappointing $16.5 million. Although the film boasted two big A-list stars (Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie), the thriller turned in Depp’s smallest open for a wide release since 1999’s The Astronaut’s Wife.

Box Office Breakdown: Tangled Climbs Above Potter

Tangled duo

You can’t keep a good woman with long locks down.

Despite initially debuting in second place, Tangled reached new heights this week. The Disney feature climbed out of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallow’s shadow to take the box office crown.

Tangled is now the second film this year to move up the ladder to the #1 spot. Another animated featured, How to Train Your Dragon, was the first.

The chart’s only new wide release, The Warrior’s Way, will likely fall out of the Top Ten by Week 2. The actioner starring Jang Dong-gun, Kate Bosworth and Geoffrey Rush started its run in ninth place.

Box Office Breakdown: Deathly Hallows Avoids Getting Tangled

Tangled

Tangled's tresses weren't quite long enough to get past the Deathly Hallows last weekend.

Despite a $48.8 million debut ($68.7 million since Wednesday), Disney's latest animated feature found itself in a tight race. The film starring Mandy Moore and Zachary Levi landed firmly into second place -- approximately $300,000 shy of two-time winner Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

Burlesque, featuring Christina Aguilera and Cher, rang up $11.9 million in ticket sales and a fourth-place finish. Although that figure isn't exactly something to brag about, it does represent Cher's biggest opening to date.

Promises of nudity couldn't get Love and Other Drugs into the Top 5. The Anne Hathaway/Jake Gyllenhaal movie earned less than $10 million and a sixth place debut. Meanwhile, Faster -- starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Billy Bob Thornton -- grossed $8.5 million for seventh place.

Christina Aguilera Hot For Strippers

Christina AguileraLatex-loving likes watching strippers.

The singer-and-actress - who plays a singer looking to find fame in a strip club in Burlesque - is fascinated by sexy pole dancers and loves watching them perform: “I prefer watching female strippers to male ones.”

Christina - who is married to music executive Jordan Bratman - didn’t hesitate when she was offered the role in Burlesque because of the movie’s racy subject matter. Speaking about the movie, she said, “Burlesque was made for me. Women, sex and dance - count me in!”

The 29 year-old is adamant women are sexier than men, because a naked girl’s body is so beautiful to view:

“I think women are such sensual beings. And, I mean, I’m attracted to men ultimately - I’m married and I love my husband and I love what we do together, but honestly? If I had the choice between viewing a naked man or a naked woman, I’d choose the woman. We’re just naturally sexier and more beautiful to look at.”

Katy Perry Cameo Cut From Russell Brand Movie

Get Him to the GreekRussell Brand’s kiss with has been dropped from his new movie.

The British funnyman - who reprises his role of rocker Aldous Snow in Get Him To The Greek - locked lips with his real-life fiancee, who has a cameo in the forthcoming movie, but test audiences were bemused to find the scene had been removed and replaced by a smooch with fellow pop star Christina Aguilera instead.

A source told the Daily Mirror newspaper, “There has been a few early screenings over in the States and Katy wasn’t in it. Everyone had been waiting for the big kiss scene, but it wasn’t there. It’s the moment the big romance started. And now they are getting married - it’s like a fairytale unravelling in front of our eyes. The scene has got to get back in there.”

Katy - who started dating Russell in September, four months before they got engaged - recently admitted she was attracted to Russell as soon as they worked together on the film: “When he was filming Get Him to the Greek, I did a cameo with him. My scene called for me to make out with him. And on the way down the stairs after the scene, I was hopping like a bunny. I hop like a bunny when I’m happy - I get a bit childlike.”

Get Him To The Greek - which also sees cameos from Pink and Tom Felton - is out in theaters on June 4.
