Liam Hemsworth Tried to Lose Weight for ‘Catching Fire’

Liam HemsworthLiam Hemsworth tried to lose weight for his role in Hunger Games: Catching Fire.

The hunky actor claims he tried to avoid pumping iron in the gym and tried to eat healthily before reprising his role in the popular sci-fi series because he wanted to shed some extra pounds: "I was actually trying to lose weight, so I'm not lifting anything too heavy during this process. I tried to cut out the bad food."

Liam's co-star, Josh Hutcherson insists there was no rivalry between the male cast members on set when it came to bulking up their bodies for the movie. "We didn't really train together, for me I definitely did a lot more training for the first movie, I kind of coasted into the second one but I worked very hard, a lot of weight lifting and stuff," he explained.

Benedict Cumberbatch Bulked up for ‘Star Trek’

Benedict Cumberbatch in 'Star Trek'Benedict Cumberbatch ate 4,000 calories to get ready for Star Trek: Into Darkness. The actor has revealed he gorged on fattening foods and endured an intense physical boot camp in order to bulk up for his role as mysterious villain John Harrison in J.J. Abrams' sci-fi sequel.

"It was the first time I'd really intensely shape-shifted ... To go up from a 38 chest to a 42, eating 4,000 calories a day and training two hours a day, as well as the stunt rehearsals and fight choreography, was the most physical demand that's ever been made of me for the screen," he said.

However, Benedict was honest when asked whether he was a bit of a geek when it came to the cult space saga and revealed he was never obsessed with the programme when he was growing up. "Not very much ... I obviously have a latent fan fixation with Star Trek because of how thrilled I was when everyone got together in the first reboot. I never was obsessive about anything I watched when I was a kid, except maybe The A-Team and Airwolf ... And I loved Knight Rider and then later Baywatch," he confessed.

Jim Carrey’s Tough Movie Diet

Jim CarreyJim Carrey hated dieting for his new movie. The 51-year-old actor shows off his svelte physique in The Incredible Burt Wonderstone, but admitted it was tough to get in shape to play street magician Steve Gray and he was thrilled to be able to cut back on exercising after filming ended and regain the weight he lost.

"It's not a happy place to be. I'm back now. I've got Mr. Cuddly back and we're happy. It's not a natural place to live in that kind of shape. It looks great. It's fantastic and gets a lot of attention, but you have to eat, like, antimatter to stay in that kind of shape," he said.

While Jim appears topless in the movie, he insisted it won't become a regular occurrence and joked, "I figured that was Matthew McConaughey's thing."

Jim is not the only star to undertake a tough diet for a role, Hugh Jackman has admitted he consumed "nothing but water" for 36 hours to prepare for Les Miserables.

Matthew McConaughey Opens up About Weight Loss

Matthew McConaugheyMatthew McConaughey admits he has a lot less energy since his dramatic weight loss.

The 43-year-old actor - who sparked concern after he recently dropped 38 pounds from his already lean frame for his role as an AIDS patient in the new movie The Dallas Buyer's Club - revealed his grueling diet has taken a toll and he can't wait to eat a cheeseburger.

"'Overall, [I've] probably got 35 percent less energy, but there's been plateaus. Getting past 170 was really hard, but then once you get [to] 167 the next seven come off easy. Got down to 143 and that's where I want to be. So, once you get past the plateau, your body seems to understand, 'OK, this is where we're leaving now, this is where we are' and so the energy rises. Your organs [and] muscles shrink, your organs shrink [and] my stomach has shrunk as well," he said.
