Dakota Fanning is in negotiations to star in Very Good Girls.
The Secret Life of Bees actress could star alongside Anton Yelchin and Elizabeth Olsen in the directorial debut of Naomi Foner. The film tells the tale of two girls who have been best friends for life but decide they want to lose their virginity before they graduate high school. However, their relationship sours when they both fall for the same boy.
"The film deals with female sexuality and friendship in a way we haven't seen before. These girls will be stunning young girls in a couple of years, but they've struggled through high school with only each other. Most of us have been there. This is the summer where they finally get to touch real life," Naomi said, commenting on the film.
Very Good Girls is set to shoot in New York City in June.

Ralph Fiennes felt a lot of pressure making Coriolanus. The 49-year-old actor makes his directorial debut with the Shakespearean adaptation and admits it was hard to juggle helming the project and also acting in it.
"There were days when I thought, 'I haven't got the right performance that I should be giving, but I haven't got time, and I have to move on.' And then, the pressure on the head - Got to move on! And even if you think, 'f**k, f**k, f**k' you can't afford to show it."

Angelina Jolie’s History Lesson Hopes
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Drama, Political, Romance, Celeb News, Filmmaking, New Releases
Angelina Jolie hopes her directorial debut is more than just a "history lesson."
The Oscar-winning actress helmed and wrote Bosnian war-set love story In the Land of Blood and Honey, and she hopes the audience think of it as more than just a factual running of events: "I hope for the audience watching that it isn't just a history lesson, it isn't just a political film, it isn't just Bosnia. We tried to tell a dramatic story, we tried to make a good film with great actors, we tried to just to give traditional dramatic storytelling, and somehow in that, we also layered all these other things and it's a part of that."
Despite being pleased with the outcome of the film, she is unsure if she will ever get back in the director's chair again. "Oh I don't know. I'm still very shy about that. I still can't believe I'm even here and we did it."
Madonna Asked Guy For Camera Advice

Madonna asked ex-husband Guy Ritchie for "technical advice about cameras" while shooting W.E..
The singer-turned-director was married to filmmaker Guy Ritchie for just short of eight years, and she admits she was keen to talk to him and pick his brain to make sure her directorial debut was as good as it possibly could be: "I gave the screenplay to Guy and shared the concepts and the stories and the ideas with him because he was interested in it from a historical point of view. Guy would give me technical advice about cameras or using digital versus film or one cinematographer being better than another - just technical things."
Despite the film not yet being released, Madonna - who is currently dating a dancer more than half her age - claims she has already begun considering ideas for future movies. "I'm thinking about possible subjects, but I am a hopeless romantic, so I'm sure that romance and love will be a part of the story."
Angelina Jolie Relied on Cast For Advice

Angelina Jolie "wasn't afraid" to take advice from her cast and crew on her directorial debut. The Oscar-winning actress' movie In The Land of Blood and Honey tells the tale of a romance between a Serbian soldier and Bosnian Muslim woman set in the Yugoslav wars and ensured it was as authentic as possible by quizzing the local actors and behind-the-scenes staff she hired for the project.
"I wasn't afraid to ask the DP [director of photography]. And I listened to my cast, most of whom lived through the war. I listened to their stories and tried to incorporate it into the work. [I] read a lot of books about the war. I talked to a lot of people, I watched, I listened. I just wanted to tell the real story. I wanted to be respectful of people. [If I did not know something,] I asked."

Tom Ford Sees Beauty, Death

For fashion designer-turned-film director Tom Ford, beauty and death are best friends, especially when it comes to his directorial debut, A Single Man.
“Everything in life is bittersweet for me, because when I see something beautiful, I also see it aging, old, dead, gone. I was very aware of mortality. I was very aware of my time on the planet,” Ford said, describing his alluring/morbid fascination.
This connection translated into his film, which stars Colin Firth, Julianne Moore, and Matthew Goode: “Everyone keeps saying to me, ‘Everyone is so beautiful. Everything is so beautiful.’ I didn’t even notice that! That’s just the way I see. That’s the way I think.”
Could anyone expect anything less from a man who redesigned the Gucci house?
While Ford has an inherent ability for making things exquisite, he also assures his fans and movie-goers that the film has serious content and feeling:
“I want to make movies that I feel about. I’ve never been anybody who cared if they died in a plane crash or not. While I was working on A Single Man, it just killed me to think that somehow I might die before I could finish it.”
The film is due out in limited release this Friday, December 11.

Demi Moore’s Directorial Debut Stays Behind Closed Doors

It appears as if Demi Moore‘s latest project has gravitated her behind the camera, placing her alongside starlets-turned-directors like Natalie Portman, Courtney Cox, and Gwyneth Paltrow.
Although the folks over at Glamour magazine are guarding the short film like hawks, Brittany Snow has leaked a few notes about her director:
“She’s so grounded and normal and a really, really talented director. When it comes to this crazy town and industry, she has a very good handle on who she is…She wore jeans and a T-shirt every day and no makeup. She was just so cool.”
The film, which is part of Glamour‘s Reel Moments Series, is slated to premiere this October. Kirsten Dunst, Kate Hudson, and Rita Wilson are among the many actresses who have participated in the past.

Affleck’s Directorial Debut Overshadowed by Missing Girl
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Buena Vista, Miramax, Drama, Mystery, Thrillers, Upcoming Releases
Despite some great early buzz, Ben Affleck’s directorial debut will be taking a backseat to international news.
The actor, who’s been fairly quiet since his Golden Globe-nominated turn in Hollywoodland (and a small role in Smokin’ Aces), has been focusing his energy lately behind the camera. His upcoming project, Gone Baby Gone, centers around the disappearance of a 4-year-old girl. The story, based on a novel by Dennis Lehane (Mystic River), features Ben’s brother (Casey) and an impressive list of veteran actors (Ed Harris, Amy Madigan and Morgan Freeman).
Gone—which was recently dubbed ‘one of the top crime movies this decade’ by Reuters—had been scheduled to debut at the Times London Film Festival on Oct. 26. Unfortunately, the film will now be indefinitely shelved in the U.K. The storyline, which bears an uneasy similarity to the disappearance of 4-year-old Madeleline McCann, hits too close to home for the country. Additionally, the film’s actress (also named Madeline) bears a resemblance to McCann.
The British girl’s story has been heard around the world for months now. Her parents reported her missing on May 3 while they were on a family trip in Portugal. They claimed she was abducted from her bed while they were nearby eating dinner. But an interesting turn of events now has the media spotlight focused on Gerry and Kate McCann. The worried parents have now been named suspects by the Portugese authorities. It’s unclear whether this recent development had anything to do with the film’s last-minute delay.
As for the US distribution, Gone Baby Gone is still scheduled for release on Oct. 19th.
