Sam Mendes Had Doubts About Daniel Craig as Bond

Sam Mendes admits he was initially sceptical about casting Daniel Craig as James Bond.
The director revealed he was "one of the people" who didn't think the actor was the right man to play the British spy in 2006 movie Casino Royale, but he was "completely wrong" as Daniel has gone on to star as the secret agent in 2008 film Quantum of Solace and will reprise his role as the character in this year's Skyfall.
"I was one of the people who said I didn't think he was the right casting. At the time I was asked in an interview and I said I'm not sure, I would have advised him not to do it. I was completely wrong," he said.
But Sam admits it was "great" to see Daniel pull off the role after experiencing such "intense pressure" during the casting process for the part: "I bumped into him after Casino Royale and I was so excited [to see him as Bond]. To watch him go through that intense pressure of being cast as Bond with flying colors ... it was great to see him come through that and prove the doubters wrong."

Jason Segel Cut ‘Gratuitous’ Nude Scene

Jason Segel cut his "gratuitous" fully nude scene from The Five-Year Engagement.
The actor is no stranger to baring his manhood on camera - having done so in 2007's Forgetting Sarah Marshall - but even though it was his idea to do it again for his latest film, he ultimately decided it was too much.
"I thought of it at the time as a homage to Sarah Marshall, but then when we saw it, it just seemed gratuitous... There's no need for it. People already know what it looks like, and we also couldn't find a lens that was wide enough," he joked to The Huffington Post.
The film's co-writer and director, Nicholas Stoller - who also worked on Forgetting Sarah Marshall - joined in joking about his friend's manhood: "His penis was getting a bit of an ego. And you know what? It hasn't changed much since Sarah Marshall. I'll be honest. It's basically the same."
Nicholas also promised The Five-Year Engagement features plenty of shots of Jason's bottom, and praised his bravado in being prepared to show himself off on camera: "He's never afraid to show flaws or a certain ugliness in the characters that he plays. He's always been like that, since he was a teenager and we started working for him. When we first met him, we were like, 'Yeah, this guy is probably going to become famous, but in a weird way.' He has a weirdness that is more relatable."

Francis Lawrence is set to direct the Hunger Games sequel.
Studio Lionsgate have been searching for someone to helm the follow-up to the first instalment of the franchise after it was revealed Gary Ross would not be returning. So now they have made an offer to Lawrence to direct Catching Fire and are waiting for him to sign the deal.
Lawrence - who has previously directed I Am Legend and Water for Elephants - was up against Bennett Miller for the role but it is thought he was always the favorite because he had a clearer schedule, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Up until recently Ross was set to return to the franchise and revealed he was to make the next film in the three part series written by Suzanne Collins.
Daniel Craig: ‘Skyfall is Not About Emotions’

Daniel Craig claims Skyfall will not be an "angst-ridden" movie.
The actor - who is reprising the role of British spy James Bond for the third time with the movie - has confirmed director Sam Mendes is not out to create anything dramatically different from the previous films and is hopeful it will be "exciting to watch."
"I sat down with Sam Mendes two years ago, three years ago - now it's getting on four - and we discussed what we wanted to do and how we wanted to do it, and he's one of the biggest Bond fans around. He's not out to do an angst-ridden movie, some chamber piece about people's emotions. It's a Bond movie. But we both agreed that if he cast the film, which he did really well, and we brought in older characters and new characters, that we'd have something really rich and sort of exciting to watch."
Co-star Javier Bardem, who is playing a bad guy in the movie, admits he was delighted to have been asked to take part.

Sabrina the Teenage Witch is being turned into a live-action film.
The TV series - which featured Melissa Joan Hart as a young witch learning about her magical powers - has been re-written by Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Ferrari for the big screen.
The original 1960s comic was turned into two animated series and the latter sitcom starring Melissa, which ran for seven seasons. It is believed the movie will have an edgier feel than the TV show but will continue to have her talking cat Salem.
Mark Waters - who previously directed Lindsay Lohan in Mean Girls - may direct the project after giving the presentation to Sony Pictures which convinced them to take it on. No actress has yet been touted for the role of Sabrina, and it is not known if Melissa will have any part in the series.
Anne Hathaway’s Catwoman Transformation

Anne Hathaway had to "physically transform" to play Catwoman in The Dark Knight Rises.
The One Day actress is the latest in a long line of stars including Eartha Kitt and Michelle Pfeiffer to play the formidable character in the forthcoming Christopher Nolan-directed sequel, and she admits it was tough to get into shape to fit into the famous suits she wears.
"I had to physically transform. Chris sat me down at the beginning and said, 'Joseph Gordon-Levitt did all his own fighting in Inception. That one zero-gravity fight. He trained for two months.' I basically left his office and went to the gym and just came out about five minutes ago," she said.
Commenting on the character, who is also known as Selena Kyle, Chris claims she represents an "underlying" sense of darkness in the film, which is the last he will direct. "She has a very strong way of protecting herself and those she cares about, which implies an underlying darkness," he told Entertainment Weekly.

Josh Hutcherson can't imagine making a Hunger Games sequel without Gary Ross.
The director has ruled himself out of the running for Catching Fire, the follow up to the hugely successful first movie in the trilogy which tells the story of a futuristic world where teenagers are forced to fight to the death live on TV for entertainment but Josh admitted Gary is "100 per cent" his choice to direct: "Gary [Ross] is my guy, 100 per cent, through and through. He killed the first one. He absolutely knocked it out of the park. Everyone who worked with him loved him. Myself and Jennifer [Lawrence] and all of the other cast members loved him. I couldn't imagine making the movie without him. That's what I have to say about that."

The Anchorman sequel will feature a custody battle and a bowling match.
Director Adam McKay has confirmed the script for the follow-up to the 2004 comedy starring Will Ferrell as a big-shot news presenter who is worried about the arrival of female broadcasters is still being written, but admits some of the storylines are already in place.
"I don't want to give away too much, but I'll just give a couple pieces of ideas that we've kicked around. Keep in mind we're still writing the story, but I'll say one phrase for you: custody battle. I'll give you that. I'll give you one other one: bowling for dollars," he said.
Adam also admits the follow-up has been a long-time coming because of problems with scheduling and the studio, who were not too fussed about making a sequel:

Alexander Skarsgard Impressed with Rihanna On Set

Alexander Skarsgard was impressed with Rihanna's "work ethic" on the set of Battleship.
The True Blood actor starred alongside the singer in the big screen adaptation of the classic boardgame and he was amazed at her professional she was, considering it was her first movie acting role: "I was impressed by her work ethic. The days are long on a movie and we had weekends off but she'd go to perform at award shows. It was her first big acting job and she was so enthusiastic."
Alexander also revealed how he was initially unsure of signing up to Battleship, but was convinced to take on the role of Stone Hopper by director Pete Berg.
"'The deciding factor for me taking it was meeting the director, Pete Berg. He has a very interesting energy. It's a very big movie but my problem with films like that is sometimes you don't care about the characters, it's just about the explosions, which isn't much fun for an actor. Pete's interested in actors and he talked about my character and his relationships, rather than how cool the aliens would look. That was important. If you don't care if the characters live or die, it doesn't matter how cool the rest of it looks."
Ridley Scott ‘Baffled’ by Alien Offer

Ridley Scott was "baffled" when he was first asked to direct a sci-fi movie.
The 74-year-old director was surprised when he was offered the chance to take charge of 1979 movie Alien as his only previous work of note was 1977 historical drama The Duellists.
"Blade Runner and Alien were more by accident than plan. I had done a film called The Duellists, so I was baffled why some bright spark would ask me to do a science-fiction movie. The Duellists won Cannes, but Paramount didn't know how to release a film about two guys in bizarre breeches, waving swords around. I actually think it's a pretty good Western. But the idea of science-fiction came out of the blue. I'd seen Star Wars and that had knocked me sideways with all my plans."
Despite his surprise at landing the director position, Ridley was equally as shocked to be 20th Century Fox's fifth choice behind the late Robert Altman, who was known for creating mainly naturalistic movies:
