New ‘Maleficent’ Trailer Released

Disney is bringing Sleeping Beauty to life - Lord of the Rings style.
In a new trailer for Maleficent - which sees Angelina Jolie portraying the eponymous villianess opposite Elle Fanning's Princess Aurora - clips of the original 1959 animated film are intercut against the live-action adaptation of the Brothers Grimm tale, emphasizing the advancements in animation today. More new scenes featuring Jolie appear in the video (seen after the jump), including one which sees her - despite her evil reputation - warning the princess, "Aurora there is an evil in this wood and I cannot keep you from it," followed by what appears to be an epic battle involving Tolkien-like giant thorns that come to life.

VIDEO: First ‘Maleficent’ Trailer Unveiled
Posted by Robin Paulson Categories: Buena Vista, Disney, Adaptation, Adventure, Trailers, Upcoming Releases, Videos,
It's about time! Nearly a year and a half after the first photos leaked of filming at Buckinghamshire, Disney has finally released the first trailer for their live-action tale of Sleeping Beauty, Maleficent, which stars Angelina Jolie as the eponymous villainess fairy.
If you can hear past Elle Fanning's weird accent (is she supposed to sound English?) as the ill-fated Princess Aurora, the film looks promisingly like a fun fairy tale mash-up of The Lord of the Rings and Game of Thrones. The teaser also offers a quick glimpse of Jolie's real life daughter Vivienne's film debut as a younger Princess Aurora. Of course, one look at Jolie's badass horns, piercing green eyes, and I-bet-you-can-cut-someone-with-those cheekbones, and you're likely checking your calendar to see how many days are left until the film hits theaters on May 30 next year. Am I right?

Vivienne Jolie-Pitt’s Lucrative Movie Role
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Buena Vista, Disney, Action, Adaptation, Adventure, Classics, Family, Period, Casting, Celeb News, Upcoming Releases,
Vivienne Jolie-Pitt is earning $3,000-a-week on her first acting job.
The four-year-old tot - the youngest daughter of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie - is starring alongside her mother in her new movie Maleficent and according to her contract, she is being paid an impressive amount for a minor. Gossip website TMZ also claims Vivienne - who has a twin brother, Knox - is being given $60-a-day in expenses.
As well as Vivienne - who will play a younger version of Elle Fanning's character Princess Aurora in the live-action film - starring in the movie, her siblings Pax, nine, and eight-year-old Zahara have also won roles. "They have smaller parts," a source said.
But the couple's other daughter Shiloh - who previously appeared alongside her father in acclaimed 2008 movie The Curious Case of Benjamin Button - is said to have turned down an opportunity to be in the new Disney film. "Shiloh was supposed to be in it, too, but she was bored and not in the mood during the day her part was supposed to happen, so she ended up not being in the film," the source added.
Jim Sturgess Set for Maleficent

Jim Sturgess wants to appear in Maleficent. The One Day actor is reportedly keen to take on the role of Diaval - a love interest for the titular villainous fairy, who will be played by Angelina Jolie - in Disney's forthcoming live action reimagining of the Sleeping Beauty tale.
"Diaval is an Irish man with black hair, dark eyes and a slight Irish accent. When he's first seen in the movie, he's not a human, but a bird. Angie's character, Maleficent, turns him into a man. Then they become lovers," an insider told Life&Style.
However, Jim faces competition for the role from another star. "Gael Garcia Bernal has shown interest, too," the source added. Jude Law is also being lined up for a role in the film. Bosses are said to be keen for the British actor to play half-human half-fairy Stefan, the father of Aurora, who is also known as Sleeping Beauty. "The role has been offered to Jude," a source said.
Elle Fanning has previously been linked to the role of Aurora, while Patrick Stewart is rumored to have been approached to play King Henry and both Judi Dench and Emma Thompson for Flittle. Shooting is slated to start in June.

Fanning Sisters Drop Out of Co-Starring Roles
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Adaptation, Drama, Casting, Celeb News, Celebrity Gossip, Upcoming Releases,
Dakota Fanning has dropped out of the film project My Sister’s Keeper, a movie which would have united Dakota and her little sister, Elle, in film for the first time. The elder Fanning passed on the film because the role called for her to shave her hair, so Elle quickly backed out as well.
Never fear - there are plenty of child actresses around. Er, maybe just one - Abigail Breslin. The Definitely, Maybe star (who is suddenly all over the place) will now take over for Elle Fanning while Sofia Vassilieva (from Medium) will fill in for Dakota.
Production will begin in March, barring any future major casting changes.

Another Fanning Finding Stardom
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Drama, Celeb News, Celebrity Gossip, Upcoming Releases,
Cute little Dakota Fanning is growing up quickly, and moving into teen roles instead of playing the adorable tyke - and Abigail Breslin can’t do every female kid role available in the movies, right? Enter Elle Fanning, Dakota’s little sis and perhaps the next kid star in the making.
Elle has already appeared in big-name movies (e.g. Babel), but now she’s moved into the lead. This little sis is playing the title role in Phoebe in Wonderland, which recently premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. Young, troubled Phoebe sees a therapist in the flick, displaying a precocious nature akin to her big sister’s. She signs up to become Alice in Wonderland (that’s how the title figures in), and Phoebe’s imagination takes over.
Reviewer comments on the film have been highly positive.
