Grace of Monaco to Open Cannes Film Festival

Grace of Monaco will open this year's Cannes Film Festival.
Olivier Dahan's biopic, which stars Nicole Kidman as the iconic Hollywood actress-turned-princess, is set to make its grand debut on May 14 during the prestigious film festival in the south of France, although it will appear out of the competition.
The Hollywood Reporter confirmed the news amidst rumors the movie might never see the big screen after it was pulled from the official US release schedule on Thursday. The film's original November release was delayed because it was said not to be ready for viewing, and it was then pushed back to March 14.
Dahan previously admitted he disagreed with Harvey Weinstein over the film's final edit, which was thought to be the reason behind the delay. "What's complicated at the moment is ensuring that you, the critics, can review my version of the film and not that of somebody else. It's not over yet. I haven't given up," he said.

Sarah Hyland is "not OK" with Carly Rae Jepsen being cast as Cinderella on Broadway.
The Modern Family star wrote a series of angry Tweets about the "Call Me Maybe" singer's scheduled appearance in the New York musical, saying she's "hesitant" about whether she will be able to pull the part off. "Today's a meltdown day. Carly Rae Jepsen is going to be Cinderella??? On Broadway??? NOT OK WITH THIS. [sic]," she wrote.
Looking to the show's current star, Laura Osnes, she then tweeted, "Tell me it's gonna be OK @LauraOsnes." Sarah then added, "Hoping she will be amazing. I'm hesitant though..."
Carly is set to take on the role for 12 weeks starting on February 4. It is not known if Sarah, 23, had been auditioning for the same part, but she sought to clarify she does not have anything personal against Carly: "To avoid anyone assuming things? My previous tweets do not mean that I'm not a Carly Rae Jepsen fan. The end."

Alec Baldwin Says Shia LaBeouf’s Not Right for Theatre
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Drama, Celebrity Gossip,
Alec Baldwin claims that Shia LaBeouf is more like a "celebrity chef" than a serious actor.
The Lawless actor recently used Twitter to leak a string of private emails relating to his departure from the new Broadway production of Orphans, which he was due to star in with Alec. His would-be co-star has now claimed Shia is in no position to talk about the theatre as he isn't a true stage actor and has accused him of not being able to cope with the challenges of the art form.

Shia LaBeouf been replaced by Ben Foster in Orphans.
The Lawless actor was due to make his Broadway debut alongside Alec Baldwin in the production - which tells the tale of two orphaned brothers who grow to regard a gangster they attempt to kidnap as a father figure - but he parted ways with the show after a week of rehearsals, leading to Alpha Dog actor Ben taking over the role of Treat.
"We are delighted that Ben will join Alec Baldwin and Tom Sturridge when rehearsals commence at Orphans tomorrow morning. He is an extraordinarily gifted actor," producers Frederick Zollo and Robert Cole said today.

Piranha Producer vs. James Cameron: The Insults Continue
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Horror, Remakes, Celebrity Gossip, Celebrity Controversy, Technology, Upcoming Releases,
James Cameron, famed director-turned household name after the success of Avatar, wants to hold 3D movies to a high standard. So high, in fact, that he’ll go out of his way to insult 3D movies which aren’t up to the same standard, apparently, as Avatar.
Cameron was uncomplimentary of Piranha 2 in a recent Vanity Fair interview, saying “I tend almost never to throw other films under the bus, but [Piranha 2] is exactly an example of what we should not be doing in 3D. Because it just cheapens the medium and reminds you of the bad 3D horror films from the 70s and 80s, like Friday the 13th 3D.” Cameron previously worked on the movie, but not for long. He explained: “I worked on Piranha 2 for a few days and got fired off of it; I don’t put it on my official filmography. So there’s no sort of fond connection for me whatsoever.”
But producer Mark Canton isn’t about to let the insult go by. He fired back on Tuesday with this: “Cameron consistently celebrates himself out as though he is a team of one. His comments are ridiculous, self-serving and insulting to those of us who are not caught up in serving his ego and his rhetoric.”
Ouch.

J.J. Abrams Clarifies Confusion Over Shatner Snub
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Paramount, Science Fiction, Sequels, Casting, Celeb News, Celebrity Gossip,
In case you aren’t aware of the ongoing Abrams/Shatner war of words, here’s your opportunity to get caught up:
J.J. Abrams makes plans to direct/produce new Star Trek movie. William becomes upset about not being involved. J.J. claims they tried to include the original Captain Kirk. Shatner denies ever receiving an offer.
So now here we are with Round 4. In this interview with MTV, Abrams says the Boston Legal star never received an offer because they never tried to make him one. J.J. explains (once and for all?) that the writers wanted to include him in the film, they just couldn’t see a feasible way to make the script work.
So do you agree with Abrams’ reasoning…or do you think they should have included Shatner anyway?
