James Cameron’s Avatar Excitement

James Cameron was like a “kid in a candy store” on the set of Avatar.
Actress Sigourney Weaver - who stars as Dr Grace Augustine in the new 3-D animated blockbuster - said watching the director helm his first movie in 12 years since the epic Titanic was incredibly rewarding.
“He invented the cameras, he was using the cameras. He was shooting his characters in the flora and fauna he created with the creatures that he created. He was having a great time, and so were we. To see him on the set of Avatar was like watching a kid in a candy store.”
James - who spent four years producing the movie - used revolutionary CGI techniques that required the actors to work wearing a camera fitted to a helmet, which picked up their facial expressions. The 60-year-old Hollywood star said the director managed to create a “magic” on set.
“When we were in our little suits with our ears and tails we could see what we looked like in Jim’s magic camera - I don’t know what he calls it, I call it the magic camera - so we were free just to be with each other as actors, as characters and Jim’s focus was completely on us.”
New Moon Director Wants to Make You Cry

Director of The Twilight Saga: New Moon, Chris Weitz, wants to make fans of the series cry their tear ducts out.
“We’ve tried our best to deliver on the romantic scenes in the film, and I would like to be able to produce more tears than any movie before, if possible. If we could only weigh them with some kind of cubic tear measure!”
Weitz also spoke out about the lack of privacy there is with shooting the film, thanks to Twitter:
“To be honest, even making the movie is under a tremendous amount of scrutiny now, so that when the cast went back to Vancouver there were cameras everywhere. Everyone knows where every set is going to be. It goes with the Internet and all the information is out there all the time, and whenever one of them is spotted it’s immediately Twittered.”
Make sure you bring your tissue box when the film hits theaters November 20th.

As promised, Quentin Tarantino has definitely not stopped working on his epic WWII film, Inglorious Bastards, ever since he completed the script. After years of speculation concerning casting, a few of the roles have recently been confirmed (finally).
What came as quite a shock to most (considering Tarantino’s usual taste in actors), Hollywood heavyweight Brad Pitt was cast as the lead role of Jewish soldier Aldo Raine. Then again, it is only appropriate that Pitt play a part in a real Tarantino film, considering he had a minor role in Oliver Stone’s Natural Born Killers.

Demi Moore’s Directorial Debut Stays Behind Closed Doors

It appears as if Demi Moore‘s latest project has gravitated her behind the camera, placing her alongside starlets-turned-directors like Natalie Portman, Courtney Cox, and Gwyneth Paltrow.
Although the folks over at Glamour magazine are guarding the short film like hawks, Brittany Snow has leaked a few notes about her director:
“She’s so grounded and normal and a really, really talented director. When it comes to this crazy town and industry, she has a very good handle on who she is…She wore jeans and a T-shirt every day and no makeup. She was just so cool.”
The film, which is part of Glamour‘s Reel Moments Series, is slated to premiere this October. Kirsten Dunst, Kate Hudson, and Rita Wilson are among the many actresses who have participated in the past.

Watch a Democratic presidential debate, and you’ll see it’s common for campaigners to malign George W. Bush. Turn on the TV, and you’ll find shows (like Comedy Central‘s Lil’ Bush) that revel in poking fun at the White House. But that doesn’t necessarily mean America is ready to tackle tricky issues when they’re enjoying a night at the movies.
Robert Redford’s ambitious Lions for Lambs features a star-studded cast and the prestige of his own name, but handles sticky subject matter. Viewers will be treated to arguments both for and against America’s military efforts in Iraq and Afghanistan, but the film makes it clear where the makers, themselves, stand. Movies that deal with America’s political problems haven’t performed well at the box office in the past…will Lions be different?
