First Look: Prince of Persia Trailer

When a movie combines The Mummy, Indiana Jones, Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings, it’s bound to be a hit. And in this case, also has a beefed up Jake Gyllenhaal and a Bond girl (Gemma Arteron) to boot.

So will this trailer get you in the doors? Doesn’t matter—I’m sure Disney’s already got a new theme park ride in the works.

Prince of Persia opens on May 28.

Getting into Character: Jake Gyllenhaal as Prince of Persia

Jake Gyllenhaal in Prince of Persia

Thanks to Jarhead, we already know what looks like with a shaved head. (Answer: Hot.) But is he manly enough to pull off the shoulder-length look? (Be sure to also check out the new poster after the jump.)

In , the actor plays Dastan, a prince on a quest to find an enchanted dagger. Gemma Arterton (Quantum of Solace) stars as the feisty princess who reluctantly helps him with the mission while Ben Kingsley takes on the villainous role of Nizam. The fantasy adventure is based off the popular video game that was released in 1989.

Persia unfolds in theaters on May 28, 2010.

Getting Into Character: Sam Worthington in Clash of the Titans

Sam Worthington in Clash of the Titans

Hugh Jackman may be the Aussie getting most of the attention right now, but here’s a name you should remember: .

Last month, the actor got his big break starring opposite Christian Bale in . It was a role James Cameron, Worthington’s director on this December’s Avatar, suggested him for. Now Sam’s testing his fighting skills in a different forum.

The picture above is from , a remake of the 1981 film. In it, Worthington plays Perseus, the son of Zeus (Liam Neeson). The “epic action adventure” follows Perseus’ journey to battle Hades (Ralph Fiennes), the god of the underworld.

Titans, which is being directed by The Incredible Hulk‘s Louis Leterrier, also stars (Quantum of Solace), Mads Mikkelsen (Casino Royale), Jason Flemyng (Benjamin Button) and Alexa Davalos (Defiance).

Quantum of Solace

Here are some possible suggestions for your upcoming weekend:

New Quantum of Solace Trailer

Back in June, the Quantum of Solace producers gave us our first glimpse of the next 007 installment. Several months later, our interest is renewed.

This new clip moves past the original trailer’s dark and emotional tone and dives right into the series’ nuts and bolts: the bad guys and the Bond women.

- originally scheduled to open on November 7 - will now debut one week later (Nov. 14).

Quantum of Solace Trailer

Of all the sequels releasing in 2008, there are only two that really have me excited: The Dark Knight and .

In this new trailer, we see that Bond () is still quite raw after the death of Vesper Lynd. In fact, the movie (according to co-producer Michael Wilson) picks up “literally an hour” after where Casino Royale left off.

Quantum - also starring , Gemma Arterton, Mathieu Amalric and Olga Kurylenko - is scheduled to open on November 7th.

Jake Gyllenhaal is the Prince of Persia

Jake GyllenhaalAlthough it was earlier reported that Orlando Bloom was set to star in a new trilogy, it seems that is not the case. It’s just been announced that has been cast as the lead in the big-screen adaptation of Prince of Persia.

In the movie, Gyllenhaal will play Dastan, a sixth-century prince who must work with a “feisty” princess to prevent a villain from possessing the “Sands of Time.” Gemma Arteron (Quantum of Solace) will be playing Tamina, the woman who joins forces with Dastan.

The fantasy adventure is based off the popular video game that was released in 1989. With both Disney and producer (Pirates of the Caribbean) behind the project, it’s hoped this film will eventually become another franchise.

Production on Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time is scheduled to begin in July.

Next Bond Girl and Villain Cast

Gemma ArtertonProduction on the 22nd Bond film started yesterday with two relative newcomers (at least to American audiences) filling lead roles.

British actress will star as ‘Fields’, the latest woman to give a run for his money.  No other details have been released about her role in this installment, which will pick up where ended.  Based on her photo alone, I’m guessing James won’t be mourning Vesper Lynd for long.

Meanwhile, , who can currently be seen as a paralyzed man in , has been cast as Daniel Craig’s next nemesis.  Fun Optical Fact:  Amalric’s Diving character communicates with others by blinking with his left eye.  Now he’s following up Royale’s Le Chiffre - the man who was known for weeping blood from his eyes.  (Yes, I know that was random.  Sue me.)

The next installment, directed by (The Kite Runner), is scheduled for release on November 7th.
