Busting the Block: Does Sex and the City Have the Power?

Sex and the City castWith mega-hits like Indiana Jones also premiering this summer, what chance does the female-oriented really have for big box office numbers? A somewhat raunchy cable show that ran on a network which worshiped The Sopranos, Sex enjoyed its fair share of popularity during its six-year stint. But come on, four years have gone by. Could Sex really make it to the status of summer blockbuster?

If the New York crowds which gathered for every single day of shooting, all waving cameras and screaming their heads off, are any indication, the Sexy movie could surpass all expectations and change everything we know about a series-turned-cinema event. “Crowd control was difficult to deal with,” said on filming the movie (largely based in New York City, as was the series). “It’s a wonderful problem to have that kind of interest; it was exciting to have that energy around us.”

Creator Darren Star and executive producer Michael Patrick King have each said they wanted the series to seem more like a movie - which is why it was often shot on the streets of New York with glossy, careful direction. That’s why Star thinks the series lends itself beautifully to a run on the silver screen.

The movie has had it’s (er, it’s had three), and all that’s left now is a big opening weekend. It all happens Friday.

She then went on to explain her affinity for money.  “I grew up not having a lot. I’m really happy to be making money, not depending on a man, and not having to suffer to survive in this business. Struggling is not fun. Been there, done that.”

Lindsay Lohan’s Pound of Flesh

Lindsay Lohan is getting back into the acting swing. Not only has the young performer snagged a coveted role in Manson Girls, but she’s now signed on to do a new, more low-budget film role.

The former child star will play a nymphomaniac waitress in the upcoming Florence. The producers asked Lohan to perform a topless sex scene in the flick, an offer Lindsay quickly countered. Not only will she go topless, she’ll do it one better - full frontal. And though Linds won’t get paid much for baring it all so publicly, one insider says she’s ready to prove herself as a “mature actress.”

Lindsay Lohan’s Star on the Rise?

Lindsay LohanOnce-troubled star is making positive Hollywood news again. The young actress will be starring opposite Jared Leto in Chapter 27, which opens this week, and has recently snagged the role of leading lady in Manson’s Girls.

Lohan will play Nancy Pittman in the film, a girlfriend of cult leader Charles Manson. Pittman remained a steadfast supporter of Manson throughout the multiple killings and Manson’s arrest. The movie will be told from Pittman’s point of view. Though the film has yet to begin shooting, there is already talk that the role could propel Lohan into an race - speculation which I think is a little strong at best.

The Unauthorized Tom Cruise Biography

Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Celeb News, Celebrity Gossip, Rumors,

Tom Cruise: Unauthorized BiographyWhen you put yourself in the public eye in a very bold way, you have to expect at least a little backlash. Could that be what’s happening to couch-jumping and overzealous right this moment? Tom Cruise: An Unauthorized Biography (which you can buy right now for less than twenty bucks online) talks at great length about Cruise and his various women, rumors concerning this love life and of course, . The media has already reported that Morton may be getting sued by Cruise and the Scientology Church for the mind-boggling sum of $100 million. Doesn’t matter. The book hit the shelves January 15, no matter what Cruise or anyone else has to say about it.

Before the book’s release, an excerpt of the prose was released which detailed the inner circle of Scientology followers, showing just how important Cruise’s role is therein. Followers of the religion, which is based on a series of books by author , have taken a lot of flak from the press (and the spoofers). But in this country, we’re all allowed to believe whatever we please - even our biggest stars. Read all about it in the unauthorized (and possibly very costly) Tom Cruise biography.

Wait a minute. That sounds a little familiar…isn’t that the exact plot of the movies? Maybe Hudgens isn’t breaking out of her teen queen role after all. In this version, Hudgens plays the popular girl (Sam) who falls for the school outcast. Together with others who don’t quite fit in, they form a rock band.

Shooting for the flick is slated to begin in February, and I’m already bored with the whole project.
