Justin Timberlake Hits Back at Bad ‘Variety’ Review

Justin Timberlake in 'GQ'He may be one of the biggest musical artists around these days, but Justin Timberlake still can't quite find success in Hollywood.

In a recent interview with GQ, the "TKO" singer revealed that he's not so bothered by his lack of earnings at the box office as much as he is by harsh critics. Due to the flop of his latest film Runner, Runner - which also stars Ben AffleckVariety went so far as to title an article, “Why Justin Timberlake Should Stop Acting.”

"Where did all this vitriol come from? It's mean. And I'm not cut out for it," Timberlake states. He quickly  hit back at the popular trade magazine: “The movie didn't do well at the box office, so I should quit? Hold on a second. If I was somebody else, you wouldn't have said that. I have the number one album this week, and I shouldn't have released it? Come on, man. You sound like a dickhead.... It just shocked me because, like, you're trade magazines. None of your opinions count. And by the way, none of you can do it."

Leonardo DiCaprio: Directing Would Make Me Obsessive

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Celeb News, Filmmaking,

Leonardo DiCaprioLeonardo DiCaprio worries directing movies would make him even more "obsessive."

The Great Gatsby star already becomes consumed by acting roles and is cautious about following in the footsteps of fellow actors turned directors such as Ben Affleck and James Franco because he fears that stepping behind the camera will be too much for him.

"I've been talking about directing a lot. But I'm still not sure I'm going to do it. When you're a director you have so many different elements you need to be in control of. I get very obsessive when I do movies and it encompasses my life. And I don't know how I'd react to 200 different people asking me questions. I might spiral off into some other dimension of obsessiveness. For now, playing the character and being responsible for myself is what I'm doing."

Despite his reservations, the 38-year-old Hollywood star thinks directing will always be interesting to him and he can imagine trying it at some point in the future. In an interview with the new Australian edition of GQ magazine, he said, "You never know. I might give it a try because it does seem fun."

Olivia Wilde Inspired By Kristen Wiig

Olivia Wilde in GQ magazineOlivia Wilde "worships" Kristen Wiig. The TRON: Legacy actress is a huge fan of the Bridesmaids actress because she proves it is possible to be sexy as well as funny.

Talking about her new role in comedy The Incredible Burt Wonderstone - which also stars Jim Carrey, Steve Carell and Steve Buscemi - Olivia said, "I auditioned for it, which I love. You feel more secure. I competed against some wonderful comedians - real comedians - and was this wild card. I know Steve Carell, who's producing the film, didn't expect anything from me. I don't see why sexuality and comedy have to be mutually exclusive. That's a tragic concept when it comes to women - you can be sexy and funny. I think Kristen Wiig is the perfect example; she's quirky and nerdy and, like, 'I'm a f***ing sexbomb but also the funniest person you've ever met.' And I worship her for that."

Olivia is also keen to shake off her sex symbol image and may not be so open with her sexuality in the future.

"I was very sexually mature at a very young age. I was very comfortable with it, and once someone hears a young woman speaking candidly about sexuality, it's like, 'Whoa!' You get labeled," the 27-year-old beauty told GQ magazine.

Jason Statham Avoids Ex at GQ Awards

Jason Statham at the GQ Men of the Year AwardsFor someone who stars in action-packed films like Transporter and Death Race, it’s rather laughable that Jason Statham avoided ex-girlfriend Kelly Brook at an awards ceremony.

Statham, who presented the accolade for International Man to Mickey Rourke at the GQ Men of the Year Awards, reportedly wouldn’t take his place at his dinner table because Kelly was sitting five tables away.

The Hollywood action star only joined his fellow diners at London’s Royal Opera House after Kelly—who he split from in 2004—had presented a prize to British comic Michael McIntyre.

A source told Britain’s Daily Mirror, “Kelly was a huge part of Jason’s life, and clearly he still has feelings for her. Also she looked stunning and Jason was there with his girlfriend—he didn’t want the pair meeting. Rather than risk an awkward encounter, he didn’t sit down for dinner straight away. Instead a member of GQ’s staff took his place.”

At the after-party for the awards ceremony, Jason continued to keep his distance from Kelly, who is now dating rugby star Danny Cipriani. The source added, “It was a pretty awkward situation. Kelly’s name is a no-go with Jason’s friends—no reference was made to her being there all night. Fortunately, Kelly was oblivious to it all and was just having a laugh.”

Christian Bale Considered for George Bush Role

Christian BaleHaving seen Josh Brolin dressed up as George W. Bush, it’s hard to envision anyone else playing our Commander-in-Chief. But according to Oliver Stone, Brolin wasn’t the first person he had in mind for W..

In an interview with GQ, the controversial director admitted he originally wanted to land a much bigger star—for the movie and for the financing.

“Originally I went for . We did some rigorous prosthetic tests and spent a lot of dough—thousands and thousands of dollars—and then Christian said, ‘I just don’t feel like I can do it.’ I met Josh and liked him. He was more rural Americana. But man, he was scared s**tless.”

Wow. While I’m sure Brolin will do a fine job - his career has really peaked in the past year - I can only imagine that Bale would have taken the movie to an entire different level. I’m just surprised to hear that there was something out there Christian couldn’t do…

W. is scheduled to open this October 17—several weeks before the presidential election. Until then, a preview for the movie can be seen here.
