Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Adaptation, Musicals, Romance, Comedy, Casting
Love is in air in February - or at least, it’s all over the entertainment industry. Retailers vie for our money, love-soaked television episodes hope for big ratings. The sappier the better, because doesn’t romance put everyone in a spending mood? In Hollywood, love stories are popular all year ‘round - but which lovable big screen couples continue to endure when other romances seems to fade? Some leading ladies and big screen hunks seem to have more chemistry than the average pair, and we love to watch them fall in love again and again.
Let’s look back at five lovable big screen couples, and see what happens when pretend romance is done right.
Olivia Newton-John and John Travolta - They were both in their twenties when they filmed Grease, but they were the perfect High School couple. The enduring tale of bad-boy-falls-for-good-girl is perhaps best represented with rollicking music and 50s-era fashion - or at least, it’s more enjoyable that way. It’s all thanks to Sandy and Danny, who are so very lovable together.

Musical Movies That Made Us Sing

The High School Musical 3 trailer is out, Disney’s Camp Rock enjoyed a successful debut, and musical movies are becoming Hollywood mainstream again. But this is by no means a new or cutting-edge movie genre.

New projects, like the remake of My Fair Lady that I’ve already summarily rejected, are in the till…and there’s no doubt more new musical movies to come.
But before we accept these newcomers, let’s take the time to give a bow to the old. What are the Best 5 Musical Movies of all time, in one humble blogger’s opinion? I’m so glad you asked, because it just so happens I’ve prepared a list.

Disney’s Camp Rock will soon delight tweens and teens with tuneful summer fun. The cable network hopes to re-capture the success of High School Musical…but is this movie truly the pinnacle of cinematic high school fun? Isn’t it possible to strive for higher in the high school movie genre? Check out my list of the Top 5 High School Movies, and find out if your favorite made the cut.
Fast Times at Ridgemont High
Sean Penn as a stoner and Jennifer Jason Leigh as a budding young slut - what says high school quite like that? This uproariously funny cult classic will absolutely never go out of style (I think it has something to with Judge Reinhold). The music and fashion might be dated, sure, but certain truths always remain despite the years that pass.

Farewell to Alice Ghostley
Posted by Shannon Bennett Categories: Celeb News, Obituaries

Alice Ghostley, best known for her role of Esmeralda in Bewitched died Friday, ending a long battle with colon cancer. She was 81. Where Alice may not have been an A-lister with a huge fan-base, most of us were aware of her and her quirky comedic presence. Her credits, along with Bewitched, included Grease, Designing Women, The Graduate, and To Kill a Mockingbird.
So, farewell to a truly great character actress; we thank you for the laughs you left behind.
