Winona Ryder: I Wasn’t Pretty Enough for Movies

Winona Ryder was told she wasn't "pretty enough" to be an actress.
The 41-year-old actress - whose movie credits include Heathers and Edward Scissorhands - said she was discouraged from pursuing a movie career when she first started out by a casting director who felt she wasn't photogenic enough.
" was in the middle of auditioning and I was mid-sentence when the casting director said, 'Listen, kid. You should not be an actress. You are not pretty enough. You should go back to wherever you came from and you should go to school. You don't have it.' She was very blunt - I honestly think that she thought she was doing me a favor," she told Interview.
However, the Iceman star wasn't deterred from her dream career and credits her parents for giving her the confidence to "be unique."

Rooney Mara: Nude Scenes Aren’t a Big Deal
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Celebrity Gossip, Filmmaking,
Rooney Mara isn't fazed by nude scenes. While the Side Effects actress isn't a fan of gratuitous nudity in movies, she isn't adverse to stripping off onscreen because she doesn't think it's a big deal.
"I certainly don't want to be involved in anything that is gratuitous, but I don't think the human body is something to be ashamed of. Every other person on the planet has the same parts as I do. So seeing them shouldn't be a huge shock to most people," she told Interview.
While she isn't worried about baring all oncreen, Rooney sometimes stresses about what would happen her latest work if she died during filming: "Sometimes I think about that--like, 'Okay, if I died right now, would they have to reshoot the whole film? Or would they be able to edit around it.' Then I think through the scenes that are left to shoot, and weigh if they would be able to finish it or not."
Rooney also revealed she tries to eat healthily although junk food can be her downfall. "I try to eat food that hasn't been washed in ammonia and then packaged in the shape of breaded dinosaurs filled with cheese - even though those are very tasty. I like to eat food that can actually make it through the 20-plus feet of my small intestine," the 27 year-old said.
Natalie Portman Fears The Smurfs
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Celebrity Gossip,
When The Smurfs hits theaters next year, there will be one person staying far away: Natalie Portman.
The 28-year-old actress recently admitted she has feared the miniature blue-skinned cartoon characters - first created by Belgian comics magazine Le Journal de Spirou in 1958 - since she saw the animated series as a child.
“I remember as a kid being really scared of The Smurfs. Because that bad guy, the wizard Gargamel, was so terrifying. I was scared of a lot of cartoons. I’m kind of wussy like that,” Portman said in Interview magazine.
Despite her fear of certain animated programs, Natalie does have some happier memories of her childhood. The Brothers star loves reminiscing about the toys she played with. “I was like a total cliched 80’s child. I had Barbies, obviously, as well as My Little Ponies and Cabbage Patch Kids, but I used to destroy them. I used to draw all over their faces and cut off their hair.”
