Diablo Cody Calls Adolescence Horrifying

Diablo Cody says she drew inspiration for her latest movie Jennifer’s Body - about a dead cheerleader who returns to kill and eat her classmates - on the struggles and fears of growing up.
“When I started the script, I was thinking about what’s scary to me and I decided, girls are scary! One of the first lines of the movie is ‘Hell is teenagers.’ If you think about all the subgenres of horror - vampires, werewolves, zombies - none of these transformations are as profound as puberty. The experience of becoming an adolescent is horrifying,” the screenwriter said.
Diablo also admitted she drew inspiration from people she knew at school when coming up with her lead character, who is played in the film by Megan Fox.

Box Office Breakdown: Meatballs Rolls to Another Victory

Surrogates was no substitute for meatballs.
Despite competition from a Bruce Willis film, a music-based remake and a sci-fi horror entry, A Cloudy Chance of Meatballs remained the theatergoers’ order of choice for the second week in a row. The children’s book adaptation had Sony dining to the tune of $25 million—over $10 million more than the second place finisher.
Many thought Willis, who hasn’t had a major role since 2007’s Live Free or Die Hard, was on track to take first this weekend. Unfortunately, his
movie was considered a big letdown given its $15 million gross and $80 million budget. Meanwhile, Fame, a remake of the 1980 hit, had no one feeling like they wanted to live forever. The MGM feature only rung up $10 million for third place.

Amanda Seyfried said it was “uncomfortable” kissing Megan Fox. Hrm, that’s just about the complete opposite of what Megan felt when asked about it.
The 23-year-old actress locks lips with the Hollywood beauty for their new horror film Jennifer’s Body, but insists that it was an awkward scene to film because she knows it will “turn on” the audience.

Box Office Breakdown: Chance of Meatballs is Winning Recipe

While it may not have had a Damon, an Aniston or a Fox, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs had something no other film did this weekend: a win. The animated adaptation raked in $30.3 million over the weekend easily pushing it to the top of the charts. The PG-rated entry towered over the box office and nearly tripled its nearest competitor (The Informant). The 3-D film also gave Sony Pictures Animation its biggest debut to date.
Elsewhere, two Hollywood beauties were struggling to make a respectable showing. Despite (or because of) a number of notable quotes, Megan Fox failed to muster any interest in her first starring vehicle. Jennifer’s Body, a horror film penned by Diablo Cody, raised a whopping $6.9 million for a fifth-place finish. (I’m not even sure that would be enough to fund one day of a Transformers production.) Megan Fox might not be a fan of Michael Bay, but she better be grateful she met him.

Comic Paper Bags Megan Fox in Interview

Showing off her comedic side, Megan Fox playfully puts a paper bag over her head, as ordered by interviewer and comedian Matt Zaller when trying to promote Jennifer’s Body.
In the clip, Zaller ignores Fox as he interviews her co-star Johnny Simmons about everything else but the film, leading him to ask her to put the bag over her head because she’s just too distracting.
It’s just too bad that Fox’s funny bone (nor the rest of her appealing assets) wasn’t enough to push the film to the top of the box office—Jennifer’s Body came in fifth place, raking in $6.8 million.

The fact that Jennifer’s Body stars Megan Fox guarantees a good million or so guys who will be rushing to theaters this September to catch the Diablo Cody-written horror-comedy. With that said, this faux public service announcement is quite unnecessary; however, it is mildly amusing.

First Look: Megan Fox Attacks in Jennifer’s Body

If you like seeing Megan Fox run away from killer robots, it might also excite you to see the beauty as a killer herself.
In Jennifer’s Body, the actress stars as a possessed cheerleader who likes to tear apart high school boys. Mamma Mia‘s Amanda Seyfriend plays Needy Lesnicky, Jennifer Check’s best friend, while Adam Brody (The O.C.) sports eyeliner as the lead singer of a rock band.
The dark comedy, written by Juno‘s Diablo Cody, opens on September 18.
