Owen Wilson on the Mend
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Celeb News, Celebrity Gossip, Rumors
Owen Wilson, who was hospitalized last week for a suicide attempt, is now back at home and resting. He’s also being closely watched. A source allegedly close to Wilson reports that the actor is thankful to be alive, though still in bad shape mentally. People are watching Wilson 24/7. Wilson stayed at Cedars-Sinai beginning August 26, after a call that he’d attempted to take his own life. During his stay in the hospital, Wilson was visited by brothers Andrew and Luke, and friends like Woody Harrelson. Wilson has already dropped out of one film project, Tropic Thunder, which would have reunited him with on-screen pal Ben Stiller.

A police log obtained by the National Enquirer backs up their earlier claim on the Owen Wilson situation. The report from the Santa Monica Police Department confirms that they did respond to an ‘attempted suicide’ call after 12pm Sunday. The TV show Extra is also adding that it was Luke Wilson, Owen’s brother, who found him.

As reported earlier, Owen Wilson was transported to the hospital Sunday afternoon. Although we still do not know what he is being treated for, a statement released today by the actor hints that he had more than just an accident.
“I respectfully ask that the media allow me to receive care and heal in private during this difficult time.”
Meanwhile, a spokesperson for Cedars-Sinai Medical Center reports that Wilson is currently in good condition.

Did Owen Wilson Attempt Suicide?
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Celeb News, Celebrity Gossip
Several sites have reported tonight that Owen Wilson (Wedding Crashers) has been transported to the hospital for medical care. Now the National Enquirer and Star magazine are exclusively claiming that the actor was found after an apparent suicide attempt. Santa Monica Police and Fire responded to Wilson’s house around noon Sunday after receiving a 911 call. According to the Enquirer, the actor may have cut his wrists and ingested an unknown number of pills.
It’s doubtful due to patient privacy laws that we may ever know the full story. Regardless, we sincerely wish the best for Owen’s recovery.

The Preview Review is a weekly exposé that looks at the newest movie trailers and, using the age-old concept of cause and effect (i.e., good trailer causes me to see bad movie), attempts to pinpoint those elements that lead to another two hours of wasted life.
This week we’ll take a look at two summer comedies and a big December blockbuster*.

Box Office Breakdown: Four More Days ‘Til Spidey…
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: FOCUS, Disney, Lionsgate, New Line, Paramount, Sony, Action, Animation, Drama, Family, Foreign, Horror, Mystery, Satire, Sequels, Comedy, Sports, Thrillers, Box Office, Lists, New Releases

With no big movie premieres last weekend (and yes, I am ignoring the fact that Next exists), I’m really not surprised to see that Disturbia once again took the top spot. But we shouldn’t expect that film to be sitting pretty much longer. With Spider-Man 3 about to spin its web at the end of the week, all bets are off. But we still gotta hand it to young Shia—three times at #1 is an incredible feat for any movie these days.
1. Disturbia, Paramount, $9,023,835
2. The Invisible, Disney, $7,717,309
3. Next, Paramount, $7,133,049
4. Fracture, New Line, $6,814,714
5. Blades of Glory, Paramount, $5,164,364
6. Hot Fuzz, Focus, $4,876,867
7. Meet the Robinsons, Disney, $4,840,972
8. Vacancy, Sony Screen Gems, $4,112,502
9. The Condemned, Lionsgate, $3,807,595
10. Are We Done Yet?, Sony, $3,450,922
Box Office Breakdown: Bring On The Fuzz
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: DreamWorks, Disney, New Line, Paramount, Sony, Warner Bros, Action, Animation, Drama, Family, Foreign, Horror, Mystery, Satire, Sequels, Comedy, Sports, Thrillers, Box Office, Lists, New Releases

This weekend’s Top Ten saw the introduction of several new movies: Fracture, Vacancy and In the Land of Women. But no star-wattage combination (Gosling/Hopkins, Wilson/Beckinsale) could bring down the LeBeouf.
But that’s not to say Indy’s newest sidekick shouldn’t be worried. Hot Fuzz, the latest movie from the makers of Shaun of the Dead, had an impressive debut—bringing in an average of $7000 per theater. With Grindhouse already off the map, here’s how the rest of the contenders fared:
1. Disturbia, DreamWorks-Paramount, $13,010,778
2. Fracture, New Line, $11,014,657
3. Blades of Glory, DreamWorks-Paramount, $7,677,569
4. Vacancy, Sony Screen Gems, $7,603,376
5. Meet the Robinsons, Disney, $6,967,089
6. Hot Fuzz, Focus, $5,848,464, 825 locations
7. Are We Done Yet?, Sony, $5,181,426
8. In the Land of Women, Warner Bros., $4,712,341
9. Perfect Stranger, Sony, $4,104,808
10. Wild Hogs, Disney, $2,820,440
