First Look: First Class X-Men

The first photo of the new class of X-Men is out, and the costumes look pretty awesome. All the major characters of X-Men: First Class will be seen in theaters when the movie open in June 2011, but you can get a sneak peek of them now.
From left to right, you’re looking at Michael Fassbinder (Magneto), Rose Byrne (Moira MacTaggery), January Jones (Emma Frost), Jason Flemyng (Azazel), Nicholas Hoult (Beast), Lucas Till (Havok), Zoe Kravitz (Angel), Jennifer Lawrence (Mystique) and James McAvoy (Charles Xavier).
The film also stars Kevin Bacon as Sebastian Shaw and Oliver Platt as The Man in Black.

Director Signed to New X-Men Project

X-Men: First Class, which is scheduled for a June 3, 2011 release, now has a confirmed director. Matthew Vaughn, best-known for bringing audiences the recent flick Kick-Ass, is now part of the franchise. Vaughn’s other credits include Stardust and Layer Cake.
The flick will show audiences the story behind friends-turned-mortal-enemies Professor X and Magneto, played in past X-Men installments by Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen, respectively.

Ian McKellen Too Old For X-Men

Sir Ian McKellen thinks that he’s too old to star in another X-Men film.
The Hollywood veteran, who has played mutant villain Magneto in three of the comic book movies, says it is unlikely he will reprise the role for a spin-off film about the character because of his wrinkles.
“There’s meant to be a Magneto script floating around, but I’ve not read it, so I suspect it wouldn’t involve me—I think it would be about the younger Magneto, and the most I could hope for would be to top and tail that. They can’t have someone whose face is as lined as mine any longer!”
However, the 70-year-old actor was impressed by his 69-year-old friend Patrick Stewart’s appearance in X-Men Origins: Wolverine earlier this year: “He was very pleased with himself that he was going in to be in Wolverine. It was only an hour’s work! We were working on Waiting For Godot at the time!”
‘Wolverine’ To Hit Theaters In 2009

Fanboys everywhere are squealing with glee as Twentieth Century Fox announces that they have set a date for the eagerly awaited and horribly titled X-Men Origins: Wolverine. The film will hit theaters on May 1, 2009 and, of course, star Hugh Jackman as Marvel’s short-tempered, adamantium-clawed mutant. In addition to release date excitement, Variety reports that Liev Schreiber is in talks to play a younger version of William Stryker, Wolverine’s nemesis who was played by Brian Cox in X2.
What excites me? Rumors that the film (to be directed by Tsotsi’s Gavin Hood), which will be partially filmed in New Orleans, will include the previously left out X-man, Gambit. If I had a dollar for every playing card I lost/ruined by imitating the cartoon version of the Cajun mutant, I’d be freakin’ rich.
A few other new mutants (as well as returning ones) are expected to make appearances. Fox is also trying to get the origin story of X-Men villain Magneto off the ground and into theaters.
