David Beckham has been approached to play a bad guy in a new movie.
The retired soccer star - who announced he was quitting the sport earlier this year - has been asked by Colin Firth to star in The Secret Service and director Matthew Vaughn is so confident he will agree to appear, he has already had a villainous part written for him.
"Becks was asked by Colin Firth if he'd like to be in the movie but he is yet to fully commit. He loves movies and fancies appearing on the big screen -- but just as a one-off, not a full-time career," a source said.
The film - which is based on a spy graphic novel by Mark Millar and Dave Gibbons - stars Colin and Michael Caine as superagents fighting a team of villains headed by Samuel L. Jackson and will also feature cameo appearances from stars including Elton John.

VIDEO: Watch the New ‘Kick-Ass 2’ Trailer

WARNING: The above trailer contains explicit language and graphic violence.
Jim Carrey joins Kick-Ass (Aaron Taylor-Johnson), Hit-Girl (Chloe Grace Moretz), and their crew of masked vigilantes in Kick-Ass 2, based off of Mark Millar's (Wanted) comic book series of the same name. Despite the three year gap from the release of Kick-Ass, the story picks up right where it left off, turning Red Mist (Christopher Mintz-Plasse) into a legitimate villain who's so edgy that he has dubbed himself "The Motherf****r." Of course, any film where Moretz is kicking ass is a definite must-see, despite the cheesy, mega-stylized action sequences.
Kick-Ass 2, directed by Jeff Wadlow (Never Back Down), hits theaters August 16.

Mark Millar Already Plotting Kick-Ass Sequel

Despite the fact that Mark Millar has yet to finish neither the first arc of his Kick-Ass comic nor the film adaptation of it (he has so far only published six issues in thirteen months), the Scottish author already wants the sequel to shoot within two years.
“Kick-Ass 2 is already being plotted out. We’re planning it, because all the actors are quite young and we have to make it relatively quickly. So we’ll definitely do that inside the next 18 to 24 months,” he told Sci-Fi Wire.

Casting Corner: James McAvoy, Ben Affleck, Nicolas Cage

Here’s a quick look at some of the casting announcements made recently:
It seems as if there isn’t a woman James McAvoy can’t romance. In the past few years, he’s been paired with Gillian Anderson, Keira Knightley, Anne Hathway and, of course, Angelina Jolie. Now the rising actor will be taking on his biggest chemistry challenge yet.
In Gnomeo and Juliet, McAvoy and Emily Blunt (The Devil Wears Prada) will voice characters in a CGI-animated version of the Shakespeare drama. But those looking for any Montagues or Capulets will be pleasantly surprised. In this version, the lovers will actually come from rivaling families of garden gnomes.
This film, co-produced by Elton John, will also feature music from the Lion King musician. The feature should be completed by 2010.

New Wanted Trailer Released

And the happiness continues for the comic book junkies out there! Universal Pictures has just released a new trailer for its upcoming film, Wanted.
Due out this June, Angelina Jolie, Morgan Freeman, and James McAvoy star in the graphic novel adaptation, written by J.G. Jones and Mark Millar. Wanted is Russian director Timur Bekmambetov’s first American film.
With the release of the trailer, many have pointed out the major differences between the film and its graphic novel roots. Some have even started to compare the movie to last year’s ridiculous-but-fun action movie, Shoot ‘Em Up; however, I am not one to judge a movie solely based on its three-minute trailer. While I am hoping that this film does follow the comic more closely than it appears in the trailer, I think it looks like a good enough film on its own, no matter how “cheesy.” With a cast like that, how can anyone go wrong?
