First Look: Paranormal Activity 2 Trailer

NOTE: Haven’t yet seen the first film? Then don’t watch this preview.

If you were one of the many who did watch the last year’s hit Paranormal Activity, you might have wondered which direction the filmmakers were going to take next. Well, based on this new trailer (which was pulled out of several Texas theaters for being too scary), we can see that they’ve at least upped the ante by throwing a baby and a German Shepherd into the mix.

Unfortunately, we don’t know much else. We still don’t even know if the movie - opening this October 22 - will somehow involve the original’s two characters. (IMDB doesn’t even have actors listed yet for the cast.) But, seriously - do the details really matter to you?

Just be sure to keep one thing in mind: Even though it appears Paranormal Activity 2 has traded in hand-held cameras for the fixed, surveillance kind - you might want to bring your Dramamine anyway. It’s better to be safe than sorry.

Paranormal Activity May Get Sequel

Paranormal Activity posterIts first week in national release, Paranormal Activity raked in an astounding $22 million, coming to a total of $64 million. For a movie that was made for $15,000 and did those numbers at the box office, you know that those higher-ups will want more out of such a successful franchise.

“We have the rights on a worldwide basis to do ‘Paranormal 2,’ and we’re looking to see if that makes some sense,” Paramount chairman Brad Grey said.

Many fans fear (myself included) that we’ll get another Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2 on our hands if a sequel does get made.

Director Orsen Peli seems to be a bit more cautious about the idea: “Even if we had some ideas for sequels, we wouldn’t be talking about them in advance.” When asked if a prequel was a possibility, he slyly replied, “Maybe.”

Check out a short video after the jump of Peli talking about the overwhelming success of the film.

Nausea Strikes Again During Paranormal Activity

Paranormal Activity

NOTE: This is not an indicator of how I felt about the movie. This is simply me telling you how the movie made me feel.

I’m not a big scaredy-cat. I’m really not. I apparently just have a weak stomach.

I should have known the night was going to go wrong from the minute I sat down for . While we were still sitting through the previews, I noticed a horrible smell. It was that strong odor a non-smoker picks up on when seated anywhere near a chain smoker. The teen in front of reeked of cigarettes and it was starting to irritate my lungs. Although I debated moving before the film began, I chose to stick it out. After all, we found great seats and I didn’t want to ruin our position.

As it turns out, that smell was the least of my problems.
