Well hasn't Zack Snyder showed us all up.
The director recently took to his Twitter to showcase both his photographic and directing abilities with a black and white image featuring Ben Affleck as Batman in his upcoming Man of Steel sequel. While there was a lot of backlash from fans about the casting announcement last August, the Argo director looks like he's filling out Christian Bale's batsuit quite well after all.

Cinecast: Star Wars VII Casting, Tarantino’s New Film, Marvel’s ‘Ultimates’
Posted by Robin Paulson Categories: Buena Vista, Disney, Universal, Action, Adaptation, Adventure, Horror, Science Fiction, Sequels, Comedy, Casting, Celeb News, Rumors, Upcoming Releases,
+ Jesse Plemons - famous for both his role as Breaking Bad's Todd and looking a lot like a younger Philip Seymour Hoffman - is apparently being called back for Star Wars: Episode VII auditions, although Disney/Lucasfilm is keeping mum about it.
+ No one has been cast yet and it's due to begin production this summer, but because it's a Quentin Tarantino project, you can guarantee that it will be full of awesomesauce. Especially considering the name of the film is officially The Hateful Eight (for those who don't know, it's a reference to the famous 1960 western The Magnificient Seven).
+ Marvel has released details on its upcoming Ultimates project, which will apparently not feature one single white guy (yay!) - both leading male superheroes will be of a non-white background. Also more yayness: the All-New Ultimates will see FOUR female superheroes on the team.
+ Despite the meteoric success she's had starring in the Martin Scorsese black comedy The Wolf of Wall Street, Australian actress Margot Robbie says that she wants to be cast in a Quentin Tarantino film next.
PHOTO: First Look at ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’
Posted by Robin Paulson Categories: Buena Vista, Disney, Action, Adaptation, Adventure, Science Fiction, Distribution, Upcoming Releases,
While Parks and Rec fans noticed Chris Pratt's dramatic weight loss and temporary exit from the series to film Guardians of the Galaxy, little else has truly been known about the Disney/Marvel project - until now.
The studio released the first official promotional photo of the comic book adaptation (above) on the last day of 2013, as well as an official synopsis:
"An action-packed, epic space adventure, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy expands the Marvel Cinematic Universe into the cosmos, where brash adventurer Peter Quill (Pratt) finds himself the object of an unrelenting bounty hunt after stealing a mysterious orb coveted by Ronan (Lee Pace), a powerful villain with ambitions that threaten the entire universe. To evade the ever-persistent Ronan, Quill is forced into an uneasy truce with a quartet of disparate misfits–Rocket, a gun-toting raccoon (voiced by Bradley Cooper), Groot, a tree-like humanoid (voiced by Vin Diesel), the deadly and enigmatic Gamora (Zoe Saldana) and the revenge-driven Drax the Destroyer (Dave Bautista). But when Peter discovers the true power of the orb and the menace it poses to the cosmos, he must do his best to rally his ragtag rivals for a last, desperate stand - with the galaxy’s fate in the balance."

Getting Into Character: Gina Gershon Goes Platinum for Donatella
Posted by Robin Paulson Categories: Biopics, Drama, Casting, Upcoming Releases,
Though it seems hard to compete with Maya Rudolph's satirical Donatella Versace impression, Showgirls actress Gina Gerson looks like she might be giving the former Saturday Night Live actress a run for her money.
The 51 year-old actress has donned the platinum blonde hair and layered on the makeup and jewelry to portray the infamous matriarch of the fashion house for Lifetime's upcoming House of Versace drama. The film - which airs on the network on October 5th at 8pm - also stars Raquel Welch and Enrico Colantoni.

Cinecast: New ‘Man of Steel’ Trailer, Kate Hudson Cast in Zach Braff Film
Posted by Robin Paulson Categories: Warner Bros, Action, Adaptation, Adventure, Drama, Science Fiction, Sequels, Comedy, Awards, Books, Casting, Celeb News, Celebrity Gossip, Distribution, New Releases, Trailers, Upcoming Releases, Videos,
+ Even though people are still recovering from throwing their money at Star Trek Into Darkness this weekend and Iron Man 3 the two weekends before that, Warner Bros. wanted to remind them that they still ought to spend even more of it on Man of Steel, which comes out next month. Hence, the new trailer.
+ Justin Timberlake has proven to everyone each time he's showed up to the Cannes Film Festival that he's not only one of the most talented musicians, dancers, and actors around today, but that he dresses better than anyone else. No, really.
+ Now that Mandy Patinkin has signed on to star in Zach Braff's Kickstarter-funded film, stars like Kate Hudson and Anna Kendrick are taking note and jumping on the bandwagon.
+ Since it feels like years since we last heard about the film adaptation of Ender's Game, the marketing team behind the project decided to throw fans a bone by releasing a new promo poster featuring Harrison Ford and Asa Butterfield (who strangely resembles Elijah Wood in it at first glance).

Getting Into Character: Ferrell and Applegate in ‘Anchorman 2’
Posted by Robin Paulson Categories: Sequels, Comedy, Celeb News, Filmmaking, Upcoming Releases,
Anchorman fans residing in New York City received a special treat this week, catching a glimpse of the film's sequel being shot in the streets - including a first look at Will Ferrell and Christina Applegate back in their '70's attire.
Though the Anchorman: The Legend Continues production has been spotted in Atlanta and New Orleans, these are the first photos taken from the set since its relocation to the Big Apple. Hopefully New Yorkers will be given the chance to see one (or more!) of the numerous A-list celebrities planned to appear in the comedy, including Harrison Ford, Kristen Wiig, Kirsten Dunst, Sacha Baron Cohen, Vince Vaughn, Nicole Kidman, Liam Neeson, and more. If not, we'll just have to wait to see all of their cameos when the film hits theaters December 20.

+ While most actors probably would have donned a wig in his place, Bradley Cooper is dedicated to his craft. Here are some photos to prove that the curls he sports in David O. Russell's upcoming frilm American Hustle are the real deal!
+ Just as you were thinking that Tom Hiddleston was all brooded-out after playing Loki for three films, the folks behind Jim Jarmusch's upcoming Only Lovers Left Alive put out two clips of the vampire flick that prove you wrong.
+ Mad Men star is moving on up to the big screen, getting behind the camera to direct Philip Seymour Hoffman, John Turturro, Richard Jenkins, and Christina Hendricks in God's Pocket, which he adapted from Pete Dexter's novel of the same name.
+ With Fast and Furious 6 and the return of his Pitch Black character in Riddick, this year is unofficially the year of Vin Diesel and his sequels. While you're still holding out hope that xXx: The Return of Xander Cage will be finally greenlit, you can check out the trailer for Riddick here.

Getting Into Character: Matt Smith in ‘How to Catch a Monster’
Posted by Robin Paulson Categories: Warner Bros, Science Fiction, Thrillers, Casting, Celeb News, Filmmaking, Upcoming Releases,
Doctor Who star Matt Smith has ditched his bow tie, dapper suits, and tousled hair for Ryan Gosling.
The 30 year-old British actor was seen on set of Gosling's directorial debut, How to Catch a Monster. Likely trying to break out of his (much beloved) Doctor Who shell, Smith's character is a far cry from a Time Lord with his shaved head and outfits sans shirts (though I'm not complaining).
