Inglourious Basterds Prequel Possibly in the Works

With one of the world’s most vied-for actors at your command and scoring an impressive $38 million at the box office, it’s nearly impractical for Quentin Tarantino to not pursue another Inglourious Basterds film.
According to Eli Roth, the chances are pretty good.
“Everybody would drop whatever they’re doing to go back to work with Quentin… All the time, Brad says, ‘Prequel, prequel!’ All the ‘basterds’ would jump on it in a second. We have three scenes that we shot in Boston that take place before the war, and Quentin says if he does the prequel, he’s going to use them. They’re not going to be DVD extras.”
Without spilling too many secrets, Roth briefly describes one of the scenes, which features a rather random cameo…

Sequel News: Mission Impossible, Haunting in Connecticut and More

Here’s the latest scoop on the sequel buzz spreading across Hollywood:
Mission Impossible: Even though he could do just about anything he wants these days, Star Trek‘s J.J. Abrams will be returning to familiar territory. Three years after the debut of MI:3, the director has agreed to reteam with Tom Cruise on a fourth installment. (Apparently the actor wasn’t listening when I said he should stay away from this project.) Although they are both only listed as producers at this point, things could change for the busy men once a script is finalized. Paramount is currently aiming for a 2011 release.

Movie Review: X-Men Origins: Wolverine
Posted by Dennis Velasco Categories: 20th Century Fox, Action, Adaptation, Sequels

Here’s the problem with X-Men Origins: Wolverine - there is so much anticipation and expectation before the movie comes out that there is already a slim chance that the movie meets them. How many times have you had high expectations for something that actually panned out? Let’s see, The Empire Strikes Back, LeBron James coming into the NBA, and a second serving of Ben and Jerry’s Half Baked ice cream… that’s it. So, the question then is, does X-Men Origins: Wolverine make the grade? Umm, no.

Star Trek’s Chris Pine Talks About Shatner Meeting
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Paramount, Science Fiction, Sequels, Celebrity Gossip, Upcoming Releases

Given William Shatner’s war of words with director J.J. Abrams, no one would blame Chris Pine if he wanted to stay clear of Captain Kirk #1. But in a recent interview, the young actor reveals that he actually made contact with Shatner…twice.
Pine’s first attempt to reach out to the 78-year-old happened before he donned the uniform. “I sent him a letter very early on in the process and explained to him who I was and who this punk kid was taking over for him, for the time being, the role and he was very kind and wished me all the luck in the world,” the 28-year-old said. “I know Leonard [Nimoy] was the same way [with Zachary Quinto], there was a wonderful feeling of handing over the mantle to us and wishes for luck and all that. But it was more about allowing us the freedom to make these characters our own without having the feelings of weight and expectation and responsibility.”

Dominic Monaghan Talks About the Lord of the Rings Prequels
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: MGM, New Line, Adaptation, Adventure, Sequels, Casting, Rumors, Scripts
While he’s quick to point out that The Hobbit is “not Lord of the Rings,” Dominic Monaghan told MTV that he is open to joining the upcoming adaptations.
Monaghan, who played Merry in the three LOTR films, said neither the fans nor his former coworkers should worry about their popular trilogy being diluted. “It’s being produced by Peter Jackson, who obviously made the first films, and his special-effects company are making it,” he explained. “It’s directed by Guillermo del Toro, who I think, outside of Peter Jackson, would be the number-one person to give this any amount of the tenderness that it deserves. Obviously, Ian McKellen’s going to be back for it, and Andy Serkis is going to be back for it.”
