First Look: The Red Band Trailer for MacGruber
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Universal, Adaptation, Comedy, Trailers, Upcoming Releases, Videos
Films based on Saturday Night Live sketches are usually as uneven as the broadcasts themselves. Moments of hilarity are typically overshadowed by 60 other minutes of stupidity. So should we expect anything different from this venture?
In MacGruber, Will Forte’s title character is assisted by SNL costar Kristen Wiig and Ryan Phillipe in his mission to locate a Russian nuclear warhead and enemy Dieter Von Cunth (Val Kilmer).
Like your movies sprinkled with date rape, upper decker and butthole jokes? Then this will be the perfect escape for you.
MacGruber opens April 23.

See Why Bruno is NC-17 Worthy
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Universal, Comedy, Trailers, Upcoming Releases
Earlier this week, Sacha Baron Cohen‘s latest film, Bruno, was given a preliminary NC-17 rating. Now this red band trailer has given us an idea why. (Note: this clip is intended for mature audiences.)
The adults-only label is, of course, nothing new to the British star. Borat was originally slapped with the same MPAA rating prior to its 2006 debut.
In the mockumentary, Cohen plays a gay Austrian fashionista traveling across the United States. As Bruno, the actor put himself into several sexual situations that are currently under question by the film review board. In one situation, he engages in what appears to be anal sex. He also surprises a man by climbing nude into his tent.

The MPAA-Approved Zack and Miri Poster
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Weinstein Company, Comedy, Trailers, Upcoming Releases

Now you really didn’t think the MPAA would make things easy for Kevin Smith, did ya?
Back in July, we told you the Clerks director was having difficulty securing an R-rating for his new film. Although Smith has since successfully appealed, he’s also been forced to rework his movie’s poster.
In Zack and Miri Make a Porno, Seth Rogen and Elizabeth Banks star as financially-strapped roomies. When the two find themselves in desperate straits, they decide to produce their own adult films.
The new promo recently created for the comedy can be seen above. The original ad rejected by the Motion Picture Association of America can be seen after the jump.

Racier Trailers Coming to Theaters
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Trailers

If you purchase a ticket at a Regal Cinemas theater anytime soon, you may see something new on your movie screen: a red band trailer.
These trailers - intended for ‘restricted audiences’ only - would contain scenes viewable at R, NC-17 or unrated films. They would be mixed in with the normal green band previews that ‘have been approved for all audiences’ by the MPAA.
Although clips with more adult matter - such as crude and sexual content - are not new to the internet, theater chains have been wary of playing them fearing they’d be viewed by the wrong demographic.
