Batman Reboot Already Scheduled

Batman RebootDoesn’t this take away some of the excitement of The Dark Knight Rises? Warner Bros. has already announced it will re-boot the Batman movie franchise (for the fourth time) after the newest sequel in the current storyline plays out. The hero will be reinvented, again, for the big screen. An entirely new cast and crew will address the epic comic book icon in future feature films.

Christian Bale’s last turn as the Caped Crusader will come to theaters July 20, 2012.

Tomb Raider Coming Back Without Angelina Jolie

Angelina Jolie, Tomb Raider no longerTomb Raider is coming back to the big screen, but this time Lara Croft won’t be played by Angelina Jolie.

No writer has been hired, no cast has been named and the release is scheduled for some far-away date in 2013, but we do know this: producer Graham King is going in a whole new direction. He hopes to “create daring new adventures for the young and dynamic Lara Croft.” According to previous reports, the Lara Croft origin story will be re-explored and tweaked in the rebooted version of the franchise.

James Bond Release Date Confirmed

James Bond is to return to movie screens next year.

Daniel Craig will reprise his role as the suave British spy in the 23rd screen adventure in November 2012, after the film was finally given the go-ahead, nine months after it was originally shelved amid money problems for studio MGM.

Sam Mendes will direct the film, while legendary actress Dame Judi Dench is believed to be returning as M. Frost/Nixon actor Michael Sheen has reportedly been approached to play the villain while a Bond girl to play opposite heartthrob Craig is yet to be decided.

"I think I'm going to be needed in spring of 2011. That's a message I got," Judi previously said.

Actor Simon Russell Beale has been linked with a role after being watched twice by Bond producer Barbara Brocolli in his current West End play Deathtrap - and is also playing King Lear in 2012 under the direction of Sam Mendes. "Every actor wants to be in Bond and I'd love to be a baddie," he recently said.

The script, meanwhile, is being penned by regular contributors Neal Purvis and Robert Wade along with John Logan who worked on Hollywood hits Gladiator, The Aviator and The Last Samurai. Shooting will start later this year and its release will coincide with the 50th anniversary of the first Bond film, Dr No.


Iron Man 3 Release Date Announced

Disney, Paramount and Marvel have just announced the released date for Iron Man 3: May 13 May 3, 2013. That’s a long time to wait, but Marvel is planning a whole host of superhero movies that will be released in the interim.

The Avengers, distributed by Disney, will hit theaters on May 4, 2012. Meanwhile, Paramount will release Thor on May 6, 2011 while Captain America debuts in July 2011. There’s also talk of a possible Black Widow movie featuring Scarlett Johansson.

Cinema Scene: Sandra Bullock Returns Razzie, Green Hornet Gets Moved

Sandra Bullock winning Razzie-Sandra Bullock may have earned her Razzie, but she’s now willingly returning it. Apparently the actress walked away with the prototype award, not the $5 knockoff she was supposed to receive.

-Speaking of the Razzies, we’ll now get a chance to see the worst of the worst honored live. The ceremony’s producers hope to telecast the awards program beginning with the 31st annual event in 2011.

-Box-office champ Avatar is already breaking records in the home entertainment department. Approximately 1.5 million Blu-ray copies were sold on Day 1, besting The Dark Knight’s previous high.

-The Green Hornet has flown to a new release date. The Seth Rogen film, originally scheduled for December 22, will now open on January 14, 2011 (the MLK holiday weekend). Why? Because Sony wants time to covert the movie into 3D, of course!


Jim Carrey Movie Indefinitely Delayed


UPDATE: The movie has now been given a July 30 release date.

This has not been a good week for Jim Carrey.

On Tuesday, the comedian and his girlfriend of five years, Jenny McCarthy, announced their split over Twitter. Today, it’s been reported that his latest film is being indefinitely delayed.

, a dark comedy co-starring Ewan McGregor as Carrey’s cellmate-turned-lover, was at one point scheduled for a March 26 debut. It was then slated for an April 30 premiere. Now, the story about real-life con man Steven Jay Russell will be lucky to get a release date at all.

Although it’s not known why the film is being held up, it’s believed Morris’ subject matter may be making distribution difficult.

Sequel News: Austin Powers, Final Destination and More


Austin Powers: The Shrek films may be coming to an end, but that doesn’t mean Mike Myers can’t tread into familiar territory. According to director Jay Roach, it’s quite possible we’ll be seeing another Austin Powers film. “You know, I hope so,” Roach said when asked about a sequel. “Mike’s working on ideas for it, people are definitely talking about it and I’m always good for it. I love those characters.”

Cinema Scene: Thor Gets a Release Date, Taylor Lautner Gets a Big Paycheck

Johnny Depp as Jack Sparrow-Spider-Man‘s loss is Thor‘s gain. Paramount and Marvel Entertainment have now taken over the May 6, 2011 release date given up by Sony.

-Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides will also be coming out in May 2011. The Disney feature will debut two weeks later on the 20th.

-Taylor Lautner will reportedly be paid $7.5 million to star in Northern Lights with Tom Cruise. Apparently hard

-The producers of The Hangover are having the last laugh. The movie has become the best-selling comedy on DVD….ever.

-There’s one thing you probably didn’t see in Avatar with your 3D glasses: the sex scene. Zoe Saldana said the moment, which should be on DVD, was cut for PG-13 purposes.


Spider-Man 4 Delayed

may not make its scheduled release date of May 11, 2011.

Despite having had four writers on the project (David Lindsay-Abaire, James Vanderbilt, Gary Ross and Alvin Sargent), the script still isn’t finished. Finished, heck - according to gossip, the director () and the studio (Sony) can’t even agree on the plot.

Currently, it looks like Spidey’s next adventure will have to wait until late summer 2011.

Miley’s Last Song Delayed


Sorry, Disney fans. The release date for the new movie, The Last Song, has been changed.

Eager crowds will now have to wait until April 2010 to see the film, which was initially scheduled for a January release. Strangely, promotion for the show has already begun. Miley’s singing a track from the flick on her Wonder World Tour, which also features a trailer for the movie.
