Bridget Jones 3? Renee Zellweger Cries Rumor

Alas, it seems the day that the Bridget Jones 3 premiere is further away than we thought. According to , who says she gets asked about the project “every single day,” the movie is “a rumor.”

She spilled the beans recently while attending Elle magazine’s Women in Hollywood event, where she admitted that she can’t confirm another Bridget Jones project at this time. “I don’t know!” She cried, when asked about the movie.

Renee Zellweger Involved in Car Crash

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Romance, Comedy, Celeb News

Renee Zellweger at the scene of her car accidentRenee Zellweger ran into a bit of car trouble yesterday, having been involved in an accident.

The New In Town actress was involved in an accident in Beverly Hills, but was uninjured in the collision.

Police Lieutenant Tony Lee confirmed, “A green Ford Explorer made an illegal U-turn in front of her silver Mercedes. Ms. Zellweger was not injured, the damage to her car was very minor. She was very polite and sincere.”

The unnamed driver was attempting to leave a parking space when the incident took place, and swapped details with Renee shortly afterward. Lee explained, “The incident will be handled between their insurance companies. Ms. Zellweger requested her car be towed from the scene, and also requested that officers call her a cab.”

Renee’s spokesperson has not issued a statement regarding the accident.

The 40-year-old actress is believed to be dating Bradley Cooper, after the pair were seen enjoying several intimate dates in Barcelona, Spain. However, the actress is staying tight-lipped about the romance, saying, “I won’t talk about it. It leads to nowhere good.”

Renee Zellweger to Return as Bridget Jones

In a movie move that is sure to delight Singletons on both sides of the pond, Texan will reprise her role as British single gal Bridget Jones. She’s sort of the less-glamorous UK version of Carrie Bradshaw - with a flawless English accent and no Manolos.

Once again, the role will require Renee to pack on additional pounds. She has a few months to bulk up before shooting begins near the end of the year. As Jones and Zellweger enter their forties, the Brit’s new mission in life (now that she’s nailed down the trick of maintaining a successful romance) is to have a baby. Perhaps all the padding for the role won’t have to come from Big Macs after all.

Bridget Jones’s Diary was released in 2001. The sequel, The Edge of Reason, appeared in 2004. Both installments featured sparring co-stars (and mega British hotties) Colin Firth and Hugh Grant.

Box Office Breakdown: Audiences are Taken with Liam Neeson

Maggie Grace in Taken

While it would seem logical to find a female-oriented movie on top after Super Bowl Sunday, an action thriller proved there was more than enough testosterone to go around. , starring Oscar-nominee Liam Neeson, took in $24.7 million making it the second best opener ever during the same football period. (Last year’s Hannah Montana concert film grossed $31.1 million.)

Meanwhile, a romantic comedy starring an actual Oscar winner, failed to do what counterprogramming options are meant to do: score a touchdown. , starring Renee Zellweger and Harry Connick Jr., earned $6.7 million and a disappointing 8th place. (Apparently Academy Awards don’t guarantee future success.) The romantic comedy raked in about 1/2 as much as Zellweger’s Leatherheads did…and that’s saying a lot.

First Look: Renee Zellweger is New in Town

Maybe the Minnesota weather is to blame for Renee Zellweger’s disheveled hair last night…

In her upcoming romantic comedy, Renee plays a consultant from Miami with a temporary assignment in the Midwest state. Of course, it’s always nice to have a warm body around when you’re cold. Thankfully for the Oscar winner, Harry Connick, Jr. is there to keep her company.

New in Town - also starring and Frances Conroy - opens January 20.

Box Office Breakdown: Beverly Hills Chihuahua is Weekend’s Top Dog

Beverly Hills Chihuahua

On a weekend with seven new wide releases, it was that emerged as Best in Show. The film, one of the few family-oriented titles currently being offered, earned nearly $30 million over the past three days. That amount was enough to easily surpass Eagle Eye, last week’s #1. The talking-dogs feature also gave Disney its best October opening thus far.

Of the other new entries in the Top Ten, one was religion-centric while the other had political overtones. (Could this be an election year?) Coming in at #10 was , the documentary from Bill Maher. Although the movie was only offered in limited release, it pulled in $6,792 per theater. That was the second highest average amongst the chart toppers. Meanwhile, An American Carol, a right-wing satirical comedy, found itself in 9th place.
