Salma Hayek Cried Before Her ‘Desperado’ Nude Scene

Salma Hayek cried before shooting nude scenes with Antonio Banderas. Although most leading ladies would have jumped at the chance to dive into bed with the Hollywood hunk for 1992 movie Desperado, Salma was worried about what her parents would think when they saw her on screen.
"It was my first chance at an American film and I knew I had to take it. In Desperado, I had great difficulty doing the love scene with Antonio Banderas. I actually cried. I didn't want to be naked in front of a camera and kept on thinking, 'What will my mother and father think about this?'"
The movie was a cult hit and helped launch Salma's career, but as her English still wasn't great at the time, she initially thought the film had flopped and critics were blaming her for it. "When the movie came out the critics were saying, 'Salma Hayek is a bombshell.' I was confused because I thought they were saying that the movie had 'bombed,' as in failed, and it was all my fault," she added.

Watch the trailer for the upcoming Puss in Boots movie, a spin-off from the beloved Shrek franchise. Antonio Banderas will reprise his voice role to bring Puss to life. Salma Hayek will voice love interest Kitty Softpaws, and Zach Galifianakis will voice the character Humpty Dumpty, the film’s villain.
Puss in Boots comes to theaters in November.

First Look: Sandler, Spade, and Rock are Grown Ups

Adam Sandler’s latest film, Grown Ups, marks yet another reunion (nearly paralleling the story itself) with SNL veterans David Spade, Chris Rock, Maya Rudolph, and Rob Schneider. Oh, and for some reason, Salma Hayek signed up for this gig, too.
In the movie, Sandler meets up with his high school friends (Spade, Rock, Schneider, and Kevin James) during a July 4th weekend, where they discover some interesting things about their families (Schneider is married to an extreme cougar, James’s four year-old kid is still breast-fed). The comedy opens in theaters on July 25, 2010.

Jake Gyllenhaal: The Jarhead star may be prepping to play another military man in Source Code, a sci-fi thriller. The movie, which will be directed by Duncan Jones (Moon), centers on a soldier who wakes up as a commuter on a train. The passenger is forced to relive the experience again and again until the mystery behind a bombing is determined. Shooting should start in early 2010.

REVIEW: ‘Across the Universe’

When I first heard the words Julie Taymor, The Beatles and musical linked in the same sentence, I immediately etched the title Across the Universe into my brain. Without even glimpsing a trailer, I knew I had to see the film. I was raised on The Fab Four and was curious to see what Taymor, the award-winning director behind the stage production of The Lion King, would do with their library. After months of waiting, I knew from the minute I heard Jim Sturgess’ haunting vocal on the opener (‘Girl’) that this would be a special event.
The movie centers around a dock worker from Liverpool, England (Jude) who travels to America in the early ‘60s to find the father he never met. He quickly befriends a rich college dropout (Max) and later falls in love with his younger sister (Lucy). All three eventually end up in New York where their lives become tied to the anti-war movement.
