Sex and the City Sequel Looking for New Yorkers

Sex & the City

Those who live in New York have a unique opportunity: They might get to appear in the next movie. An open casting call will commence in Chelsea next Tuesday.

According to the ad, “SAG and non-SAG” actors are needed to play “fashion models, celebrity types, upscale socialists, urban club-goers, gays and lesbians, international types (Middle Eastern, Arabic, Asian, European, British), professional soccer players.”

The mind boggles to consider all the possibilities this gives us for upcoming sequel scenes.

During an appearance on the British-based Paul O’Grady Show, announced the news that is even now setting women into a frenzy: “Yes there will!” Cattrall cried when ask if there will be a sequel to the summer’s mega-popular Sex and the City movie.

According to New Line Cinema, negotiation are still ongoing for a sequel. Years ago, when the series first ended, rumor states it was Cattrall herself who stymied progress on a movie plan. She backed out; they ditched the idea until it re-surfaced in 2008.

Don’t Count on Great Men

Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: New Line, Romance, Comedy, New Releases

Carrie and Big

If you’ve been searching online for “Love Letters of Great Men,” the book referenced in the Sex and the City movie, you’re wasting your time. The movie has inspired a huge demand for this tome of romantic words, but here’s the rub: it doesn’t exist.

In the movie, Sarah Jessica Parker-as-Carrie Bradshaw reads the book to Chris Noth’s Mr. Big. Later in the flick, the great love letters play a central role. But don’t look for the book, because you won’t find it. The closest thing to the fictional volume is “Love Letters of Great Men and Women: From the Eighteenth Century to the Present Day,” originally published in 1920 and recently re-issued.

The fictional book has created enough demand for “Love Letters” that the real book is shooting right up the Amazon most-wanted list. The letters mentioned by Carrie in the bedroom reading scene do actually exist, by the way, so all is not lost.

Could There Be a SATC Sequel?

Michael Patrick KingCould fans possibly get more Sex?

Just in case you thought the story was over for Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte - don’t put your glasses down quite yet. While it could be another five years before we see the women back in action, the door on will never be completely closed.

Even though he didn’t create the current installment with a sequel in mind, writer/producer/director says he wouldn’t be opposed to revisiting the series.

“I wrote that movie with a beginning, middle and end because I didn’t want to leave the audience unfulfilled. The actresses are great, and if the gods smile and people are still interested, why not?”

In Theaters This Weekend (5/30)

The Strangers

Here are some possible suggestions for your upcoming weekend:

Sex and the City Premieres in London

Sex and the City premiereCynthia Nixon, Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis and Sarah Jessica Parker made their Sexy stroll down the red carpet for the first premiere of their movie in London. The movie will celebrate two more premieres before it comes to theaters May 30.

As thousands of moviegoers screamed “We want Sarah!”, the ladies made their entrance. One BBC reporter cried to American journalists that it was “the biggest turnout to a red carpet premiere anyone has ever seen!”

SJP wore a strapless green gown designed by Alexander McQueen, topped off with a floral motif cap designed by England’s Philip Treacy. Kim Cattrall, sporting an upswept ‘do, wore a red Vivienne Westwood dress, while Kristin Davis was highly formal in Guy Laroche. Cynthia Nixon was daring in a glittering black gown.

As to the movie, that remains under wraps until the world premiere (still scheduled for May 30).

The $24,000 Sex and the City Tour

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories:

Sex and the CityIf a simple bus tour wouldn’t be enough to quench your thirst for anything and everything , you can now do one better.  For only $24,000, you can now live like the girls of the popular HBO show.

To celebrate the May 30th big screen debut, a company called Destination on Location will offer bored souls a way to experience someone else’s life.

For five nights, die-hard fans will travel to some of the characters’ favorite haunts.  They will also receive products those four women frequently enjoyed.  Stops will include a trip a trip to the SoHo House (remember when Samantha tried to get access to the exclusive club’s rooftop pool?), a shopping spree and cocktail party at Jimmy Choo, brunch at the same cafeteria the chatty ladies loved to dine in and access to the movie’s premiere on May 27th.  (I’m assuming bucketloads of cosmopolitans will be served somewhere along this route.)

New Sex and the City Trailer

Sex and the CityFinally - a more substantive glance at the upcoming Movie!

While I will undoubtedly watch the release, I must say the newest trailer gives the film a much darker tone than I would have liked to see.  (You can view it for yourself, after the jump.)  Is it because the show is best served on the small screen?  Should the series only be viewed in 30-minute snippets?  Is the teaser simply a bad representation?  (Oh, I hope so.)

Regardless, the clip does give us a few juicy tidbits:

  • Apparently Mr. Big’s (full) name is John James Preston.  (I think I like him better when he’s not an actual person.)
  • It looks like Steve may have cheated on Miranda.  (The Steve I know would never do something like that.)
  • Commitment-phobe Samantha may be wandering from Smith Jerrod.
  • Charlotte is indeed pregant.  (She adopted that kid for nothing.)
  • And last but not least, Carrie’s planned wedding to Big falls apart?

Be looking for SATC to hit theaters this May 30.
