“I would inflict pain upon myself. I would dig my fingernail into my thumb, or I’d bite the inside of my cheek. That was really the only way because the guy’s [Will Forte] a maniac in the best possible way.”
- Ryan Phillippe, on working with SNL comedian Will Forte for action-comedy MacGruber.

First Look: The Red Band Trailer for MacGruber
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Universal, Adaptation, Comedy, Trailers, Upcoming Releases, Videos
Films based on Saturday Night Live sketches are usually as uneven as the broadcasts themselves. Moments of hilarity are typically overshadowed by 60 other minutes of stupidity. So should we expect anything different from this venture?
In MacGruber, Will Forte’s title character is assisted by SNL costar Kristen Wiig and Ryan Phillipe in his mission to locate a Russian nuclear warhead and enemy Dieter Von Cunth (Val Kilmer).
Like your movies sprinkled with date rape, upper decker and butthole jokes? Then this will be the perfect escape for you.
MacGruber opens April 23.

First Look: Sandler, Spade, and Rock are Grown Ups
Posted by Robin Paulson Categories: Columbia Pictures, Comedy, Celeb News, Trailers, Upcoming Releases
Adam Sandler’s latest film, Grown Ups, marks yet another reunion (nearly paralleling the story itself) with SNL veterans David Spade, Chris Rock, Maya Rudolph, and Rob Schneider. Oh, and for some reason, Salma Hayek signed up for this gig, too.
In the movie, Sandler meets up with his high school friends (Spade, Rock, Schneider, and Kevin James) during a July 4th weekend, where they discover some interesting things about their families (Schneider is married to an extreme cougar, James’s four year-old kid is still breast-fed). The comedy opens in theaters on July 25, 2010.

Sudeikis is in talks to play Box, a friend who thinks Justin’s long-distance relationship with Drew is a mistake. (Don’t we all?) Nanette Burstein (American Teen) has been tapped to direct the New Line movie.
